The Great Wheel of Randomness is fickle.
Good evening to yall. I made it back from San Antonio an hour or so ago and about a half hour late due to Delta forgetting to put the passengers on the plane from Atlanta to Charlottesville. The plane was at the gate and the passengers were in the terminal but somehow no one at the gate heard the instruction to load the passengers. Sigh.
I checked out what yall had been up to in my absence. It looks like most of us had a mediocre performance in Week #10.
By my calculation JPinMilw and Jespah finished at 10-6. JPinMilw gets his first weekly win of the season based on the tiebreaker points. Congrats to him and tough luck, Jespah.
I show Liontamerx, Child of the Light and Sublime doing reasonably well at 9-7.
Johnboy, Osso, Cowdoc, JPB, Cjhsa and Pantalones broke even at 8-8.
And Region, George, Fbaezer and Tico stumbled in at 7-9.
We are still missing Kickycan and Panzade didn't come back yet. And I was sad to see Chiso take the week off.
I heard last night during the Carolina-Bucs game that this week 12 of the 16 games were decided by 8 points or less. That is some sort of near-record.
Back with the YTD standings in a bit. I have a suitcase full of smelly laundry to wrestle into the washing machine.
Stop washing! I want to compare myself to the Worst ESPN Picker. Now!
The Standings Through Week #10. Things seem to be tightening up a bit.
Those of us who have picked every game in each of the first 10 weeks are up to one gross (144) of games. By my calculation, there are 12 of us who have entirely too much time on ou hands.
1) *Cowdoc (.688) (He was in 1st place last week also)
2) *Chiso (.656) (2nd last week)
3) *Kickycan (.649) (3rd)
4) *Region Philbus (.625) (4th) (A second not so good week in a row)
5) Child of the Light (.618) (5th)
5) Best ESPN Picker (.618) (5th)
6) *JPinMilw (.611) (8th) ( A nice advance)
7) Sublime (.608) (7th)
8) Pantalones (.604) (6th)
9) Liontamerx (.596) (9th)
10) *Osso (.590) (9th)
11) JPB (.569) (11th)
11) *Realjohnboy (.569) (11th) (Mediocrity at its best)
13) **George (.563) (11th) (When he is is good he is good, but when...)
14) Worst ESPN Picker (.535) (16th)
14) Tico (.528) (14th)
15) *Cjhsa (.526) (15th) (sparkled his 1st week; fizzled since)
16) Fbaezer (.521) (16th) (Que pasa?)
17) Jespah (.507) (17th) (Breaks through the .500 level)
I think I have this brought up to date. The * belong to folks who have been weekly winners.
I'm confused again (simply set me straight), weren't there fifteen games..
oh, I know I can go back and look.
Kickycan, who has graced us with his presence for moments, is third???
Snarl, trying to think of italian phases, perhaps Fbaezer can help me out...

I blinded myself with science.
Your point, osso, re Kicky is well taken. Yall must remember that there are not a lot of rules here. I make them up as I go along. Eventually, if active players' winning percentages go down, I will move any inactive player to the sidelines.
I am off to gather the schedule for Week #11 before I go to bed.
Kicky had a hidden good week when he didn't post here but at work. But maybe if there are x number of games, you have to make y amount of guesses... (whether next year or this year.., I don't know)
I'd rather have him come back and sputter at us in italian, in any case.
This looks to be a very difficult week of picking ahead. Some games between some very good teams and some games between some pretty lousy teams. 16 games in all plus the total number of points in the Monday night game. All picks need to be in by the kickoff of the 1st game on Sunday (but yall knew that)

And, BTW, I believe kickycan é un fifone.
Even though JPB did a wonderful job this week (kudos!) my prognistication was awful. No surprise, though, because I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw that my picks were identical to johnboy's. ;-)
(I was on the plane from San Antonio to Atlanta this morning. I had my notebook full of random observations I had gathered. I was assiigning them to places they might fit: history, architecture etc.
I came across this comment from a Texan, which may or may not be true. If you get to the door of a bar or a restaurant and a sign says No Smoking that means you can bring a gun in with you. But if the sign says Smoking Permitted, you can't)
