Well, I've been watching...

trying to remember, about three weeks ago some things I read on various sites re teams like Tampa and Houston and was it Tennessee? possibly winning didn't change my vote .. and I shoulda listened. Some here did.. or knew enough themselves - I think COTL did well.. Last week (or was it the week before) I listened to some of the talk and was venturesome and had my worst week ever. This time I went with common sense in general but with hunch for a few, and was lucky. The same type of hunches tripped me up before.

For the next two games - I haven't looked recently re Indy and the Pates' score, 'fraid to. And I think JPB might be right about Oakland.

I was in a terrible dilemma this week, Region. In Fantasy Football, I had the QB for Indy (Peyton Manning) and the NE Defense. Both on my Fantasy team. I hope I made the right decision. I benched Manning and put in McNair from Baltimore. I see that Baltimore won, but haven't seen the numbers.

Rule #2 in Fantasy Football: Never bench Peyton Manning. (McNair = 4, Manning = 16)

But it wouldn't have made a difference for you this week, RJB. The Ticomaniacs are on a roll.

Osso is at 10-3 and has Seattle with 35 total points.
Only JPB still has a chance at catching up. She is at 9-4 and has Oakland and 24 in tonight's game.

SOMEONE HAS BEEN STEALING MY SOCKS!

I agreed to not post the schedule for the next week until the Tuesday after the Monday night games in exchange for a pledge from yall to post diligently without me having to nag. It has worked out pretty well (except for sublime and kickycan).
But I am violating this this next week (#10). I am flying out on Thursday morning to San Antonio, and will be back the following Tuesday night.
I have a bunch of meetings tomorrow and Wednesday and will be doing a stint as a poll watcher tomorrow and will be up late election night looking at returns. I started to pack this evening and discovered I am missing a bunch of stuff, including the socks.

I doubt I will have a lot of time over the weekend to keep up with this, this week. It would be great if one of yall could take over the Sunday afternoon banter on how we all are doing.

If anyone is interested, the A2K NFL HQ is always left unlocked, and there is plenty of Pabst Blue Ribbon and Cheeze-Whiz. I would be happy to fax the schedule and picks through Wednesday to whomever might want to pm me.

Thank you. See yall tomorrow.

Congratulations to Osso on an excellent week #9. She finished at 11-3 and becomes our 8th different winner in 9 weeks. Only George has won more than once.
Cowdoc had yet another good week, closing at 10-4. Liontamerx, JPB and Tico came in at 9-5. Clustered at 8-6 were Johnboy, Chiso, Cjhsa, Pantalones and Child of Light. George, JPinMilw and Fbaezer broke even at 7-7. Jespah brought up the rear at 6-8 but was joined by a struggling Region.
Sublime and Kickcan went missing this week.
The best "expert" on ESPN was 9-5 and the worst was (ha, ha) 5-9, proving that having made-for-TV hair doesn't mean all that much.

The standings through Week #9:

1) Cowdoc (winning % of .711)(1st last week)
2) Chiso (.656)(3rd)
3) Kickycan (.649)(4th) (gains a position despite not playing)
4) Region (.648)(2nd)
5) Child of Light (.633)(5th)
5) Best ESPN Dude (.633)(5th)
6) Pantalones (.617)(6th)
7) Sublime (.614)(8th)
8) JPinMilw (.609)(6th)
9) Osso (.602)(11th
9) Liontamerx (.602)(9th)
11) JPB (.578)(13th)
11) Johnboy (.578)(11th)
11) George (.578)(10th)
14) Tico (.539)(15th)
15) Cjhsa (.537)(16th)
16) Fbaezer (.531)(14th)
16) Worst ESPN Picker (.531)(14th)
17) Jespah (.492)(17th)

RJB - did you find someone to keep you table up to date this weekend? Or did I misunderstand and you were just looking for someone to keep up the banter? I can banter with the best of them and if you want to send me your spreadsheet I'll add the new folks and post interim summaries.

JPB: My desire was that someone could record the additional picks that come in after tonight, making sure that folks haven't left out any games or the total points in the last game thingee. We have 4 folks so far. A little nagging might be required on Saturday or on Sunday morning, particularly to Sublime and Kickycan.
After the early games, I take a green highlighter and a red highlighter and tally up where we are (banter #1). Do the same after the late games (banter #2). I am always asleep by the time the Sunday night game ends, but even before that you can often project who the potential winners amongst us might be and can work that into your chatter.

Two suggestions: Never, never, never use your red or green highlighter until the game clock reads 0:00 and, don't tell anyone this, but folks like to see their name in print. In a light-hearted thread such as this one, it matters not whether it is positive or negative.
Let me know how to get the schedule/picks to you. Thank you for offering.

(BTW. The lad who kicked the winning field goal last Sunday for the Redskins vs the Cowboys was a product of Albemarle High School, about two miles from my house).

Thanks, JPB, for volunteering. Please print out the schedule for Week #10. 16 games arranged in rows, plus a row for total points. In columns, list the players and their picks in the 16 games and the total points. So far, and you only need to go back one page, you will find the picks by Jespah, Cjhsa, Pantalones, RJB and Region. Good luck and thanks again for undertaking this. We have never had a guest host before in the 2 1/2 years I have run this sucker.
