We use it in that way today. When I was much younger -- in eighth grade during the Kennedy/Nixon presidential contest -- and just becoming aware of politics and government, I thought a pundit was a retired Cabinet member or Ambassador who had some sort of relevant experience and sufficient education to grant him (it was never a her then) the -- not certain what the word is, perhaps -- right(?) to give answers to the important questions of the day.

Somehow, pundit became a member of a public relations' firm.

Boy, conservatives can sure get whiney, sensitive and defensive when the chips are down.

Shocked

You know, as it continues to look worse for conservatives, perhaps it might behoove a few more of them to come out in condemning the likes of Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity. As they continue their screeds, America is turning a corner and moving away from the neocon lunacy that's gotten us into this mess to begin with, and they are helping in pushing that trend forward.

Speaking of Letterman (who better to lighten things up a bit) - I wonder if, now that Hillary will probably be running for pres, he'll recycle some of his old "Top 10" lists ...

Quote:
Top Ten Signs There's Tension In The Clinton Marriage

10. Hillary recently photographed in New York Post holding hands with Jerry
Seinfeld.
9. Hillary's just not been her cold, distant self lately.
8. For the first time in our nation's history, the President's staying at
the "Y."
7. After dinner, she pointedly offers him a cigar.
6. Hillary no longer laughs at joke, "You may be the First Lady, but you
sure ain't the last!"
5. They've already started talking about who gets to keep the White House.
4. Canceled weekly game of "Scattergories" with the Gores.
3. He's surpassed his monthly allowance of 60 extra-marital affairs.
2. Their towels are monogrammed "Hers" and "Philandering Bastard's."
1. Every morning she greets him with a 21-slap salute.

Quote:
Top Ten Hillary Clinton's Tips for Making Your Man Happy

10. Ketchup-flavored lip-gloss
9. On special occasions, have the Marine band play Fleetwood Mac hits.
8. Air Force One Mile High Club
7. Give him pep talks: "Compared to you, Lincoln was just a monkey in a top
hat."
6. Lean close, put you mouth to his ear and whisper, "Bubbaaaaaaa."
5. Spend plenty of time inside the beltway, if you know what I mean.
4. Take him away for a quiet weekend of taxing and spending.
3. Every once in awhile, let him run the country.
2. Add a little spice in the bedroom by dressing up as a McDonald's
waitress.
1. Two words: fry everything

Not only do I hope he recycles this, but writes some new material. Personally, I can't STAND Hillary.

Nah. The anti-war, peace-at-all-costs, looney left continues to demonstrate time and again that they cannot be trusted with the security interests of the US. The corner has not yet been turned, and if it ever does, it will certainly be a sad day for America.

Looks like the looney right had their chance, and have royally fvcked things up no thanx to their illustrious Idiot in Chief, George W. Bush. No wonder were more hated than ever, and terrorism has only increased under the guidance of Bush.

Like I said, we're finally turning the corner. Time for a different direction.

Don't forget to close the door when you leave.

Sierrasong- I would not worry about Ticomaya. I am sure that he knows more than LIght Wizard and Plain Ol Me could ever learn.

Plain Ol Me is obviously a superannuated School Teacher who thinks that a writer of racist crap named Toni Morrison could ever rise up far enough to kiss Shakespeare's hem. She says she is a teacher. She knows nothing about literature, or for that matter, most everything else. What do you think about an avatar of a cow wearing sunglasses? I wonder what Jung would have said about that symbolism?

And light Wizard? Well, he is different. He really must be put in a class by himself. He is, as you may know, an expert on the Cinema. His favorite movies are:

l. Brokeback Mountain

2. Myra Breckenridge

and 3. You Are What You Eat!

We'll all recall when Ann got a lemon meringue pie tossed at her and then her description of this harrowing event as "terrorism!"

So, ok, that's a low standard but give her marks for consistency in low standards.

And not only that, but we ought to take our hats off here to her resoluteness and courage in going on even with the terrifying threat of more lemon meringue pies.

It's this sort of strength of character, bravery and patriotism which really underlines her value to America, unlike effete pretending citizens like John Murtha, or Kerry, or Max Cleland. Their faux Americanism needed the derogations she entertained us with. Joe McCarthy and Ann...true and brave heroes. And funny! Those two are just a hoot.

I thought this morning listening to the radio news- some GI are being investigated for possible court-martial for rape and murder and the ringleader, dishonourably discharged previously, had planned the crime saying he wanted to "kill some Iraqis".

Which is exactly what Coulter and her fellow-travellers exhort them to do.
The deranged grunts carry the can, the mouthpiece goes on spouting the bile.

"Myra Brekenridge" sucked -- one of the worst ten movies ever made and I unfortunately sat through it once.

BernardR is already emulating "You Are What You Eat" as he loves pork.

Are you claiming Coulter encourages G.I.s to commit violent crimes against Iraqi citizens, such as the one you reference? Can you give an example of her doing this? Seems as if that might have been mentioned before now, if it were really the case and not just your fertile imagination at work, McT.

The GI gets tried with murder for firing his gun, but his leaders don't get tried for dropping bombs, though they killed many more innocents.

Violent oratory gets cheered to the echo, in some quarters. Deplored, in this one.

My answer was more interesting, and less disingenuous, than your question.

In this thread there is a quotation from Coulter over her exhortation to "kill Iraqis". Maybe she could be subpoenaed to appear as a witness in the forthcoming trials of the GI murderers. It seems people listen to her, she is quite influential with a certain type of person.

Horse pucky. Your "answer" was not an answer at all, and my question was certainly not disingenuous.

You implied, if not outright asserted, that Coulter has exhorted American G.I.s to commit crimes against Iraqis, so I asked you to give an example of her doing so. I don't know what quote you are referring to where Coulter encourages American soldiers to "kill Iraqis," do you have a link? I've looked for one, but I've not found one. I've tried googling "Coulter" and "kill iraqis" and haven't had any luck finding the quote you are alluding to.

On September 13, 2001, Coulter wrote: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

Is that the quote you are referring to?

I find some of the assumptions posted here amusing. It amazes me that intellectually inferior people continue to play upon the same, tired and stretched strings, lacking sufficient information, insight, imagination and intelligence to ever alter their cant.

I also find laughable the things they consider insults. Boy, what babies.

As I have written before, let's try to not answer posts which exhibit psychotic traits and/or rampant stupidity.

No, that's not the one. I've seen something recently on A2K quoted from Coulter which asserts that muslims should be killed.

But by all means, for the sake of argument, take the example you've provided. It is an offence, in this country, to make a statement like that.

One would think, since you've asserted she's complicit in the crime, that you would know exactly what the quote is.

You mean a criminal offense? You mean if Coulter were to make that statement in England she would go to jail?

But surely you aren't claiming that the quote I provided encouraged these G.I.s to commit their crimes ... are you?
