One would think, since you've asserted she's complicit in the crime, that you would know exactly what the quote is.
McT wrote:But by all means, for the sake of argument, take the example you've provided. It is an offence, in this country, to make a statement like that.
You mean a criminal offense? You mean if Coulter were to make that statement in England she would go to jail?
But surely you aren't claiming that the quote I provided encouraged these G.I.s to commit their crimes ... are you?
Racist and immoderate, violent utterances from the likes of Limbaugh and Couter have exactly that effect on susceptible subjects. Yes, of course.
On your question above- yes, it is an offence in Britain* to incite violence on racist, religious or ethnic grounds.

What about the parents? You can't downplay the importance of a proper upbringing to properly mold young minds; not enough attention from Mother can have disasterous effects. And don't rule out the role violent video games had to play. And I suspect at least one of these criminals played
Dungeons & Dragons in their youth, or some other similar role-playing game. I also wonder whether they listened to Black Sabbath for extended periods of time. Perhaps their mother had Lawrence Welk reruns playing in the background during their adolescence. Plus, I have it on good authority that the song "
Alice's Restaurant," if listened to repeatedly, has been known to cause laboratory mice to want to kill and eat dead, burnt bodies.
Sorry, McT. Although you'd like to blame this one on Coulter or Limbaugh -- despite the large odds than none of the soldiers involved have even heard of her -- there are too many other potential factors involved. Speaking of factors, perhaps Bill O'Reilly caused these guys to snap. Think about it.
I do think about it. The general tone of discussion in the US mass media, so far as I can judge, has not much changed since the bad old "shock and awe" days. These poor soldiers are immersed in that.
You should try to be less of a lawyer, Tico, and more of a human bean. There's a good man in there somewhere, I feel sure.
Hey ... lawyers are human beans too.

I'd like to see some documentation backing that up please.

British authorities thwart terror plot to blow up aircraft

LONDON - British police said Thursday they had arrested 21 people in connection with a terror plot against airlines traveling from Britain to the U.S. which was an "attempt to commit mass murder on an unimaginable scale."

London's Heathrow airport, the busiest airport in Europe, was closed to most European flights Thursday morning after officials raised Britain's national security alert to its highest level _ suggesting a terrorist attack may imminent. Huge crowds formed at security barriers.
Police carried out the arrests overnight in London, its suburbs and Birmingham as part of a major covert counterterrorism operation that had lasted several months, Deputy Commissioner Paul Stephenson said. The identities of those arrested were not immediately released.
Police said searches were continuing in a number of locations.
"We have been very successful in arresting those we were targeting but this is a lengthy operation, and no doubt there will be further developments," Stephenson told reporters outside the headquarters of the Metropolitan police.
"We think this was an extraordinarily serious plot and we are confident that we've prevented an attempt to commit mass murder on an unimaginable scale," he said.
He declined to how many aircraft may have been targeted, or which airports might have been involved. He also refused to say whether the suspects were British citizens or foreigners.
Prime Minister Tony Blair, vacationing in the Caribbean, had briefed President Bush on the situation overnight, Blair's office said. There was no immediate public reaction from the White House. Bush is spending a few days at his ranch near Crawford, Texas.
Britain's Home Secretary John Reid said the alleged plot was "significant" and that terrorists aimed to "bring down a number of aircraft through mid-flight explosions, causing a considerable loss of life."
The U.S. government responded to the announcement by raising its threat alert to its highest level for commercial flights from Britain to the United States amid fears the plot had not been completely crushed.
"We believe that these arrests (in London) have significantly disrupted the threat, but we cannot be sure that the threat has been entirely eliminated or the plot completely thwarted," said U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.
It is the first time the red alert level in the Homeland Security warning system has been invoked, although there have been brief periods in the past when the orange level was applied. Homeland Security defines the red alert as designating a "severe risk of terrorist attacks."
Chertoff added, however, there was no indication of current plots within the U.S. No major U.S. carriers immediately announced they were canceling flights to Heathrow.
A senior U.S. counterterrorism official said authorities believe dozens of people _ possibly as many as 50 _ were involved in the plot, which "had a footprint to al-Qaida back to it." The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

Maybe if the Brits kicked some Islamic butt, these things would not happen so often in Heathrow!!!

Odd. I thought that DeadCat would have been pleased that these arrests were made.
I didn't realize that he wanted the possible Islamic terror plottters to succeed.

Fine work, DeadCat!
EhBeth- It is obvious that McTag does not know what is going on in his own country. He talks about the media in the USA but never mentions that Islamic Terrorists are all over London.
Or don't you know that!!!!

Morning, BernARD
You are one grumpy old grouch, aren't you?
I would be a grumpy old grouch if there were as many Islamic idiots in my state as there are in England.
Thank God for the Churchillian spirit that Scotland Yard manifested in their capture of the Islamic Animals. It's too bad we are still not in the eighteenth century when the British could summarily hang those who attempted to kill British citizens in cold blood!
Right, and you truly belong in the 16th Century.

He ejaculates when he looks in a mirror.
No, Mr. Light Wizard, I am only entranced when I view the three movies youhave listed as the best of all time_
l. Brokeback Mountain
2. Myra Breckinridge
and 3. You are what you eat
Hey, lets get back to attacking Ann Couter.
I liked the catty comment on the talk show "Why the long face, Ann?"
Well, I would have liked it a bit, were I not a gentleman.
Let's have a link for your weak and unfunny sarcasm that those are movies on my top ten list. I have never seen the 1968 nor the 2004 "You Are What You Eat." If you sat through those two films, my condolences but it does account for your warped, trolling rhetoric. I would send you a get well card but the Hallmark shop is to far from my home (2 blocks) and I don't have your address for the asylum.

It appears there aren't many Islamic idiots in the state of confusion.
Islamic terrorist who aren't too smart or they would not have been caught. The U.S. in the case of "9-11" displayed an unprecedented
stupidity in identifying and stopping the Islamic terrorist and this is quite will documented and studied. It was a gigantic failure of politics, administration, intelligence and action. Condelezza Rice's assessment of,"Who would of though planes would be flow into buildings" is a tragically stupid statement.

Please don't poke BernardR with a stick, it makes him angry. He is fast asleep in the barn, hanging upside down from the rafters.

But the leaders are still out there with you and me, at the Mall and at the movies. Perhaps they've even got jobs at Theatres, popping the popcorn and dispensing the 'butter" on the corn.
SKip the butter, you never know what's in it, do you?
