I applied for another job last week, but since I haven't heard from them, it looks like I'll be going back to work at the lobster plant on Monday when the season starts. <sigh>

I'll be working 12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week for about 8 weeks, starting monday, so my A2K time is obviously going to be cut down to nil for that time :-(

I'm gonna miss you guys Crying or Very sad

For hours like that, I hope the position at least pays well.

oh, bummer. hang in there, it's just two months, they will fly by and you'll be rich... or richer, anyway.

No, it doesn't pay well at all. The only benefit is that it's seasonal work and I get the winters off, along with a few weeks in July-Aug, depending on how the fishing season goes.

Thanks Dag. The season actually runs through until December, but the first two months are absolutely brutal where the hours are concerned.

Well, could you send me a free lobster? Laughing

Still, it's only for a relatively short period and, as has already been said, the time will fly by.

Yeah, hottie is going to be there, but I don't think he's a hottie anymore, so it's a good thing they hire lots of new people every year because I'm gonna need me a new one ;-)

I'll need to know all your details though.

Please let me slowly take down your particulars.

Just hoping my health will hold up for that long. I've had asthma all my life and working in a lobster shop causes resperatory problems for people with asthma, so I truly suffer when I'm in there for long periods of time.
Last year, I got 6 flu's withing the 8 months I was there and it was brutal.
I was also diagnosed with acid reflux this week and I guess it has caused scaring of my asophigus, which has narrowed it and this interferes with my breathing/asthma.
I'm waiting in line to see a specialist who will do one more test and then I wait in line for the procedure needed to remove the scar tissue that's obstructing my asophigus.

Then I'm all stressed out about the gas prices, as my job is a half hour drive away and my car is a v-8 Shocked

Damn life and it's problem!

Laughing you guys.

The place I applied at doesn't like people to call, so I don't want to tick them off.

I've been thinking a lot about this and here's my plan for this year. Last year was my first year at the shop and over here to qualify for unemployment in a seasonal job, you need 910 hours, but after you get those, every year after that you only need 420 hours.
Last year I opened my claim 2 weeks early and accumulated 70 extra hours after I put in my claim, so this year I only need 350 hours to be able to open a new claim in Dec. The claim I have now stays open until then, if I should get laid off ;-)
So, if I am as sick as I was last year, after I get my 350 hours I can get a doctors note stating my condition and that I can no longer work at the shop until I've had surgery on my asophigus and get an early lay off.
This way, I would be there when they need people the most and I'd be out of there before I drop dead Laughing

I'm going to keep putting applications in at my sons place, but if I start at the shop, I'll probebly stick it out the season and try back again this time next year.

Takes deep breaths!
