Really? I believe this reference "most citizens" ranks right up there with "one million illegal aliens enter the US of A every month". In other words, total crap.
Dys, you are a member of the minutemen aren't you?
Diane always says, "Dys is my minuteman."

Yes, of course. She keeps a stop-watch beside the bed. I get a bowl of frito pie every time I go past one minute.

Keep in mind C.I. is a native californian.
Yes, quite right, totally bullshit, just like 1 million per month illegal aliens.
I certainly have not used a 1 million a month figure and perhaps you could post any evidence that the information I have posted is 'bullshit".
Luckily, Californians opposes to Minuteman, and other states should to.

Well not all Californians CJ, but according to that one poll, a majority don't think citizen patrols are the way to go. I believe that poll was taken before this last round of demonstrations though. It would be interesting to see if the same poll would produce the same or different results now.
CJ, I agree with you, but maybe for different reasons. I believe it's the federal governments responsibility to secure our borders. If they do not, they are responsible to pay for whatever (if any) extra costs associated with not controlling our borders such as education and medical care. It's also because our government is more interested in bringing security to Iraq over our home country's interests. Iraq and Saddam was never a threat to our security. To make such idiotic statements coming out of this administration just shows how ignorant Americans were/are. At least the current polls shows Bush's approval rating at 29 percent - and continually going south.
Cicerone, aside from agreeing with you on the Iraq situation, I foresee
a different problem with Minuteman. People go into such volunteer projects for all the wrong reason, and if you just think for one brief moment that
people like cj, who despises Mexicans, is part of a Minuteman operation,
then you will agree that human rights violations and Minuteman is synonym.
Jane, would you repeat that?

Well since I know a couple of folks of Mexican descent who are members of the Minutemen, it's hard to make a case that the Minutemen despise Mexicans. I am going to guess that a good number of the Minutemen rosters in all states will include some Spanish surnames, but I could be wrong since I haven't seen any of their rosters. Unless you want to accuse all 91% (at last count) of Americans responding to the current CNN poll of being racist, you just can't make a case that the Minutemen are racist purely because they advocate closing the border and are willing to invest in themselves to do it.
I must agree with Fox on this one; a Minuteman is not necessarily a racist against Mexicans. Many Mexicans in San Jose have expressed their discontent with illegal immigration; they do not hate Mexicans.
Why are we even worrying about the Mexicans? The Japanese should be our main concern.
I am not buying it, Foxyfire. I live in San Diego, about 30 miles from the
Mexican border, and we can see firsthand, how these poor Mexicans are
exploited and abused while attempting to cross the border.
cicerone, they often fall victim to their own countrymen, besides having
to deal with corrupt border officials, who are willing to exploit them. The
bottom line is always money.
Now, include the Minuteman volunteers to the equation and you have
more exploitation, corruption and abuse. I see absolutely nothing good
in having a private volunteer team "protecting" our borders.

Why? Don't you like your Sony TV, your Toyota, or your Toshiba computer?
I was just having fun with cicerone, Jane. Let it go.
