I am curious about what Advocate thinks about the SPLC.

That's not curiosity. There's a bunch of folks of all ranks and shapes and sizes who are spending $15 billion because they are curious about what happened just after the Big Bang.

And I was told that my Mum got obsessed with rice puddings.

@ebrown p,
I don't care what civil rights groups share my views or whether any civil rights groups share my views. I was making a case--which you denied--that pro-enforcement people are using, some exploiting, black groups/people who are against illegal immigration as part of argument against illegal immigration. I have provided numerous links from numerous sources supporting my opinion about that and I have acknowledged that there are others who dispute those assertions.

So why don't you go find someplace else to play, okay? You accused me of lying. I proved that I was not lying. And I'm done with you on this topic.

No you didn't, you provided links from a right-wing group that didn't support your opinion at all.. (There I go, accusing you of lying again.)

But don't feel bad-- I freely admit that I am unable to find a single racist hate group that supports my position on immigration. So I guess we are even.

What's up with that. It would look good. Better than the Peep driving around London in a tank made to look like a car with bottle of bloods in the trunk just in case and 600 gun toting deputies on $80,000 a fear each , plus perks and pensions for doing what looks like the safest job in the world whilst looking tough.

More stylish.

@ebrown p,
I told you I'm done. If you won't accept NPR or several other links I provided as sources, I can't imagine what I could offer that would have any chance of persuading you. So please. Move on. I'm done.

(In case you didn't check though, the SPLC seems to take an anti position on illegal immigration.)

@Foxfyre,
Correction: They aren't pro-enforcement. They do go to rather exaggerated lengths to defame anybody who is pro-enforcement though.

@Foxfyre,
The SPLC wasn't on my radar until ebrown put it there. Now that I've read up a bit on this group I'm finding some interesting things. Just about EVERY pro-immigration law enforcement group or spokesperson out there is on their hate group list. Too many to believe that there is any kind of objectivity involved here.

And in the interest of playing the 'whose is blackest' game:

Quote:
The Surreptitious Extremism of the Southern Poverty Law Center
By Kevin Lamb
Volume 18, Number 4 (Summer 2008)
Issue theme: "Illegal alien voters"

Summary:
How an “educational” non-profit organization inculcates a radical multicultural ideology.

The following article is reprinted from The Open Borders Network: How a Web of Alien Activists, Journalists, Corporations, Politicians, and Civil Rights Lawyers Undermine U.S. Border Security and National Sovereignty by Kevin Lamb with permission from the publisher, Representative Government Press (Lexington, Virginia).

Life without prejudice, were it ever to be tried, would soon reveal itself to be a life without principle. For prejudices…are often built-in principles.--Richard Weaver

One ideologically driven nonprofit organization that skillfully overshadows other radical groups on the “educational” nonprofit landscape is the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). Founded, directed, and staffed by “far-left” zealots, the SPLC serves a unique role in the open-borders network. It aggressively promotes a multicultural, multiracial agenda in every political, cultural, and social sector of American society. The SPLC thrives off its adversaries raising millions of dollars annually to combat the nebulous twin categories of “hate groups” and “intolerance,” which form the operational core of the SPLC’s programs and public activities.

To the unsuspecting observer, the SPLC seems nonpartisan and ideologically neutral. The reality is that the SPLC, founded by radical egalitarians, actively bolsters the fanatical dogma of political correctness with a zeal that recalls the Ministry of Truth in Orwell’s 1984. Reflecting the radical orientation of its staff, the SPLC vigilantly strives for broad “social change” of American society. Its ultimate goal is the transformation of the U.S. from a majority European-based culture to a multiracial Third World colony. As unsettling as this is for many Americans"liberal and conservative alike"the tactics employed by the SPLC to accomplish their aims should be just as disturbing: suppressing the free exchange of ideas in a free society.

The following chapter explores the ideological agenda of the SPLC. It highlights the SPLC’s persistent campaign to discredit the immigration-restriction movement, reveals some of the SPLC’s questionable fundraising practices, and dissects the falsehood that the SPLC is an objective, non-ideological institution.

Kevin Lamb, just the type (ilk) of journalist that foxfyre would cite as an authority;
Until his firing in 2005, Kevin Lamb was an editor who had reached the heights of conservative journalism, serving as managing editor of Human Events magazine and also The Evans-Novak Political Report. That ended after his boss, Thomas White, fired him from both positions after learning from the Southern Poverty Law Center that Lamb was simultaneously editing the white supremacist journal The Occidental Quarterly. After his firing, Lamb wrote a bitter essay saying that several fellow employees had known of his work for the racist quarterly, including Al Regnery, the conservative publisher who owns Human Events and The Evans-Novak Report. In fact, Lamb had written for racist publications going all the way back to the early 1990s, when he published works in Mankind Quarterly. He also edited a 2002 book on Glayde Whitney, a racist academic who once wrote a fawning introduction for former Klan leader David Duke. Today, Lamb, a graduate of Indiana University with a political science degree, continues as editor of The Occidental Quarterly and is also the communications director for the National Policy Institute, a racist think tank, both of which were started by William H. Regnery, a cousin of Al Regnery's.

@dyslexia,
Nice hatchet job the SPLC did on him too there Dys, speaking of the type of authority some people would use (and were too chicken to link)

Quote:
Kevin Lamb is the managing editor of The Social Contract magazine, and secretary/treasurer of the Center for National Research. He is the founding editor of The Occidental Quarterly (TOQ), a magazine that addresses vital issues facing the survival of Western societies. He left TOQ in September 2007.

Previously he was managing editor of Human Events newspaper, and a library assistant at Newsweek magazine.

Mr. Lamb worked with the late writer and editor Sam Francis in assembling and marshalling to press the book Race and the American Prospect: Essays on the Racial Realities of Our Nation and Our Time.

His writings have appeared on VDARE.com and in National Review; Chronicles; Human Events; Mankind Quarterly; Middle American News; Conservative Review; The Journal of Social, Political, and Economic Studies; The Social Contract; The Asian Wall Street Journal; and Right Now!

Mr. Lamb has a B.A. in journalism and masters degree in political science from Indiana University. He is a graduate of the National Journalism Center.

He served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1981 to 1986, receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of sergeant.

An avid reader, aficionado of classical orchestral music, and editor in exile, he is currently working on several long-range writing projects dealing with immigration, conservatism, race, and political correctness, including a major work on the sociobiology of race, character, and personality.

@dyslexia,
The Occidental Quarterly is a journal "devoted to the ethnic, racial, and cultural heritage that forms the foundation of Western Civilization". It aims to defend "the cultural, ethnic, and racial interests of Western European peoples" and examine "contemporary political, social, and demographic trends that impact the posterity of Western Civilization".

Quote:
The Southern Poverty Law Center was organized by Dees and Levin in 1971 during a desegregation case (Smith v. Young Men's Christian Association[3]), as a law firm to handle anti-discrimination cases in the United States. The organization's first president was Julian Bond, formerly of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Bond served as president of the SPLC until 1979 and remains on its board of directors. In 1979 the Center brought the first of its many cases against the Ku Klux Klan. In 1981 the Center began its "Klanwatch" (now "Hatewatch") project to monitor and track the activities of the KKK, which has been expanded to include seven other types of hate organizations.[4]
Southern Poverty Law Center Headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama.

In July 1983 Klan members firebombed the center's office destroying the building and records.[5] Federal investigators said "the intruders went to work quickly, dousing files, desks and carpets with a petroleum based liquid, perhaps gasoline mixed with motor oil or diesel fuel and concentrating on the four corners of the 6,000-square-foot (560 m2) building."[5] In February 1985 Klan members and a Klan sympathizer pled guilty to federal and state charges to the fire.[6] At the trial, "Joe M. Garner and Roy T. Downs Jr., identified as klansmen, and Charles Bailey pleaded guilty to a two-count information charging them with conspiring to threaten, oppress and intimidate members of black organizations represented by the law center."[6] Over 30 people have been jailed in connection with plots to kill Dees or blow up the center.[7]

(I am still waiting to hear what Advocate has to say about this).

Egads! I'm a minority in my chosen state! Maybe I'll move to Idaho. There's hardly any 'colored people' in Idaho.
