You seem to be more concerned about people not speaking English than people staying in the States illegally.

Actually, there's an easy test for that: suppose that tomorrow, an amnesty was issued and all people staying in the US illegally would be made citizens (not that that would solve whatever "immigration problem" there is, but all the people already in the States would be there legally): Would you still be concerned about them not speaking English?

Well, what would the solution be? Force everybody to speak English? Why would you want to do that?

I just can't understand why the continuous ranting against people who speak one specific language isn't seen as racist.

Suppose somebody was going on about a specific religion (let's say Jews) in the way cjhsa is agitating against Spanish speakers. Let's say somebody would say it's a disgrace that people are not Christians. That they should be forced to convert. That he wouldn't want to eat in a restaurant run by Jews.

Would that be seen as racist?

well, there does seem to be a connection between those three. ( I may be a gun owner but I'm exempt without the other two.)well maybe not, I've always hated Ugandans and am a avid devil worshipper. So, ok, I shouldn't be allowed within 500ft of any public school. I can live with that. Oh, wait I live within 500ft of a middle school. Nevermind.

Ranting, whose ranting, making English the national language would merely change from what it is now the accepted language to the national language. That would in no way stop people from speaking the language of their native country.
I would note that even in the defeated amnesty legislation one of the prerequisites on the road to becoming a citizen is being able to speak English.
In addition IMO all documents issued by government, federal, state and local govt.'s should be printed in English only. I see no reason to cater people who come to the US and
do not want to assimilate.
