Anybody here looking at the poll on this thread?

So far, with 100 votes cast, the "against" illegals have 2/3, the pro illegals have 1/3 of the total - about the same as nationwide results.

Factually... 2/3 of Americans in all of the polls polls run by reputable organiztions (i.e. polls run by the CIS or the KKK not included) support a compromise that includes giving immigrants here illegally now should be given a path to citizenship.

Mr. Brown-Munoz - you surpass your habitual distance from logical inference, now tending asymptotically towards infinity. Consider, if you can, that among the reductio ad absurdum corollaries of your above statement is that 100 voting posters on A2K constitute a representative sample of KKK.

The membership of the site appreciates your observation, I'm sure <G>

P.S. just to make it easy for you, the topic here starts with POLL. The first 4 options listed are anti-illegals, while the remaining 3 are pro-illegals.

Can't we just train lots of doctors to employ the techniques used by Michael Jackson's physician and dye these people a nicer shade?

Brilliant, Bernie! Why didn't Mr. Brown-Munoz think of that one?

Great to see you anyway - love to Mrs. Bernie and rest of the family.

CI - the shade change of Michael Jackson is only half the story - remember how much his nose has altered since he started plastic surgery?! - the other half may be surmised from mouse experiments:

Kiss and hug. We are down in Texas presently where I am trying to learn how to speak english correctly. It's the only reason one would ever come here. Well, the girls are pretty too even if their breasts are made in China.

There was an interesting article in yesterday's San Jose Mercury News about how the government has no way to enforce the recent threat to find illegals working at US companies.

Many illegals using fraudulent social security numbers are not being followed up by the employers to match them against the list put out by the security agencies, and it's against the law to report social security number problems to other agencies of the US.

It's almost too funny to contemplate.

Immigration Activist Leaves Sanctuary
Illegal Immigrant Leaves Sanctuary To Attend Immigration Rights Rally In Los Angeles

(AP For the first time in a year, an illegal immigrant who took refuge in a church to avoid deportation has left the sanctuary to attend an immigration rights rally in Los Angeles.Elvira Arellano left the church for the first time since seeking sanctuary there Aug. 15, 2006, and was traveling to California by car Friday, said Emma Lozano, head of immigration rights group Centro Sin Fronteras.

Arellano is accompanied by people close to her, Lozano said, including the Rev. Walter Coleman, pastor of Adalberto United Methodist Church where she and her son have lived for more than a year.

Lozano, who is in Los Angeles, declined to say whether Arellano's 8-year-old son, Saul, is with her.

She also declined to give specifics about when Arellano left the storefront church on Chicago's West Side, but Arellano's last public appearance there was Wednesday, when she announced plans to travel next month to Washington, D.C., in what many expected to be her first venture from the church.

"She's not alone and she's got a lot of company and on her way," Lozano said Friday night. "And she'll be here tomorrow, so we're really looking forward to that."

The Los Angeles march is set for Saturday morning. Arellano plans a press conference at La Placita, which Lozano described as a prominent Catholic church.

A message seeking comment was left late Friday night with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

On Wednesday, Arellano announced she would travel to Washington, D.C., to lobby for immigration reform and participate in a prayer meeting Sept. 12.

Lozano said those plans haven't changed.

Arellano came illegally to the United States to Washington state in 1997. She was deported to Mexico shortly after, but returned and moved to Illinois in 2000, taking a job cleaning planes at O'Hare International Airport.

She was arrested in 2002 at O'Hare and later convicted of working under a false Social Security number. She was to surrender to authorities last August, but asked instead to take refuge at her church to avoid deportation and separation from her son, who is a U.S. citizen.

The 32-year-old has since become an international symbol of the struggles of illegal immigrant parents and a source of controversy, praised for her steadfastness and criticized as a scofflaw.

They should pick her up and give her the heave ho as soon as she leaves the BS santuary. But I am sure they will not.

We are a victim of bleeding heart liberals, imposter, that have created this situation of political correctness and not wanting to offend anyone or violate anybody's poor rights, much less people that break the law.

And this following story about not counting illegals until the after 2010 I find to be hilarious as well, if it wasn't so sad as well.

Why don't we quit arresting all criminals entirely, after all maybe they would quit hiding so much if we quit bothering them. We could then count all of them easier by simply letting them report their crimes, which they probably would if we do not arrest them, and especially if we reward them with good jobs, etc.

That report is about the once-a-decade population count. Do you think it should be done more often?

Actually, it makes perfect sense. Quietly, behind closed doors, our collective government knows that illegal aliens are a net positive for our economy. The SS Administration created a Tax Payer identification number specifically with illegals in mind, then set about on an awareness campaign in neighborhoods where higher percentages of illegals reside, specifically advertising the FACT that the info would go to no other agency. It was their way of condoning the "illegal activity", providing taxes were paid… at least as far as the IRS was concerned (I linked info to it many pages ago). Knowing full well that millions of illegals are here working, and not creating a viable option for them to pay their taxes would have been foolish.

On the other hand; if you'd prefer an ignorant explanation, with no foundation in fact whatsoever:

Actually; we are the proud recipients of a freedom/liberty combination that bests all that came before it. The giants who built this country were acutely concerned about people's rights. In a just society; Law Enforcement and Liberty are not opposing values. Your accusation that "we are a victim of bleeding heart liberals" is an idiotic knee-jerk response, likely the product of talk radio regurgitation, that demonstrates a profound ignorance of the core values that make this country great. Few people would describe me as a "bleeding heart liberal" (save the ill-informed and terminally stupid), yet my position aligns with the bleeding heart liberal's almost completely. This suggests their might be more to it than Rush Limbaugh has shared with you.

Now you're on to something! Not only could we count them; WE COULD EFFECTIVELY TAX THEM! Write your congressman immediately and explain that you would like to see Drugs, Gambling, Prostitution and any other victimless crime regulated and taxed, rather than the continuation of failed policies of prohibition that create a haven for organized crime, and deprive the collective of said entrepreneurs' fair share of taxes. Good thinking Okie!

OB,
You dont honestly think that drugs, gambling, and prostitution are victimless crimes,do you?

If you do,you need a serious wake up call about life.

Wrong thread to get into it; but yes I do. I don't require my government to protect me from me… and they've proven themselves thoroughly incompetent to police the above categories already.

For what it's worth, which isn't a great deal, the Individual Tax Payer Identification number is not issued by SSA. It is issued by the IRS, to permit illegals to pay taxes. Were it issued by SSA, it's probable they would have to take action. Anyway, employers may not use this number for W-2. W-2s go to SSA, and they do not recognize it.

CI's statement above is exactly right. I've detailed employers' frustrations with the conflicting requirements of IRS, SSA, and INS. We are caught squarely in the middle - speaking as an employer representative.
