ditto.
Thank you again C.I. It is so good to see you finally come to your senses.
From this morning's e-mail:
(Actual letter from an Iowa resident and sent to his senator)
The Honorable Tom Harkin
731 Hart Senate OfficeBuilding
Phone (202) 224 3254
Washington DC, 20510
Dear Senator Harkin,
As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.
My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.
Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.
Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost $10,000 a year.
Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.
Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college age children driving my car.
If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative.
Thank you for your assistance.
Your Loyal Constituent,
Donald Ruppert

Well, it really could be: it's published in more than 60 conservative/right blogs since some time
Walter, in general, what are the immigration policies in Germany? For instance, does Germany seek to find and expel illegal immigrants?
We have some of the stupiest immigration policies [= more or less none until most recently- changing slightly by now] because we were told not to be an "immigration country".
We are a Schengen country and have no passport controls besides at airports and harbours for non-Schengen-countries entries.
There aren't any special searches for them - besides if you call looking for illegally employed persons such.
(In pre-Schengen time, the Federal Police, which is the border police as well, had special units looking for smuggled people at the eastern borders especially.)

This letter actually makes the argument that being without health insurance is a good thing since uninsured people get to go to the emergency room.
It must have been written by a conservative.

So you know the original creator of this mass email?
what should be done about illegal immigration? first we should deport all the whites back to their home countries. thats the first step.
how can u talk about illegal immigration after we straight-up stole this country?
HELLO! YOU ARE ALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS! its funny how the us can slaughter people and take control of a country, but when they do it somewhere else ( especially when there is something we want) that we go balls-deep and rain ammunition down from the heavens.
hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.

Why only whites?? Why not get rid of all foreigners and give it back to the cavemen.
And nonsense never ceases to amaze me.
If u cannot see the ethical foundation i base my post its not my fault.
I meant any invading people. whites is a generic term referring to the original conquerors of america.i'm sorry if i dont spend my time catering to the less intelligent and my point was lost.next time i will be more specific.
jesus christ... nonsense? mass murder? stealing? illegal war? do you stand for these things then?
Id like to hear what u have to say. Btw , what cavemen? we are all descendants of cavemen aren't we?
boy was this fun!
OGIONIK
No! But what I see is bigotry and racism in youir post.
u got me, i should have said all the people who are here illegally. that means EVERYONE besides the natives.i admit i was wrong.
whats your next rebuttal? make sure its good.
OGIONIK
We are all immigrants or at the very least descended from them. However, based upon your rational the world is full of illegal immigrants due to the shifts in populations over time and the establishment of national boundaries. The fact remains that The US is a sovereign nation with established laws and as such has the right to determine who and under what condition people from other countries may enter and seek citizenship. Note: that is the same for every nation.

I would also suggest you cut out the wiseguy attitude. You can catch more bees with honey than vinigar.

No, it was written tongue-in-cheek by a person who recognizes that getting health care for free is more attractive than paying for health care. It is mostly liberals who seem to push that particular philosphy, however, so, on that basis, we might conclude the letter was written by a liberal.
You are confusing "being uninsured" with "getting health care for free".
If you were uninsured and had an emergency, you too could go to the emergency room where you would be treated for free.
The 50 million uninsured Americans probably wouldn't agree with you this is a good thing.... even though they can be "treated for free" whenever they are bad off enough to need an emergency room.
(The ungratefulness of the uninsured. Go figure.)
IF WE CAN COME HERE AND TAKE THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY AND MURDEROUSLY, WHY DO WE CARE IF THEY WANT TO MOVE HERE AND BE PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY, PEACEFULLY?
can you answer that? i highly doubt it. its hypocritical and unethical , but we're all for it so it seems.
