THE CONSERVATIVE CREDO

God is a Republican.

Jesus loves you,
and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him,
a bad guy when Bush senior declared war on him,
a good guy when Cheney did business with him,
and a bad guy when Bush junior needed a "we can't find Bin Laden"
diversion.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because it is a Communist country.
Trade with China is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

The United States should get out of the United Nations.
Our national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq,
North Korea and Iran.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body.
Multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind
without regulation.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches.
Veterans' benefits and combat pay must be slashed.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies,
then demand their cooperation and money.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy.
Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at
heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science.
Creationism must be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable
offense.
A president lying to enlist support for an unnecessary, illegal and
distrastrous war is sound defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution.
The Constitution includes the power to ban gay marriages and censor
the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades.
George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

A drug addict is a criminal with an unacceptable moral failing.
A conservative radio host addicted to drugs has an illness and needs
our prayers for his recovery.

"Executive Privilege" is the right of every Republican ever born, who
will be born, or who might be born (in perpetuity.)

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest.
What George W Bush did in the 1980s is irrelevant.

Support vice presidents who shoot their friends and then blame the
victims for wearing orange vests that disguise them as quail.

Amen

I am using her position in the argument that you superpatriots ought to put up or shut up. I haven't said anything about her here that I haven't said to her before. Not hurting someone who doesn't know and whom no one here knows. But you use the typical right wing tactic of attacking the messenger to deflect the issue supposed to be getting discussed.

I didn't hear anything about what the son might think or be willing to sacrifice and I can't think of one reason why I should thank this woman!

You really can't think of one little reason to thank the woman? Her son did sacrifice a few years of his youth, didn't he?

Yes, indeed DTOM, you nailed that false analogy. I wonder how McG did on his SATs:

soldier is to war as fireman is to fire?

I doubt that McG took SATs!

Did anyone read realjohnboy's post? There is no draft. People signed up to be in the military of their own choosing. Each person decided that they wanted a career as a WARRIOR.

Then again, there probably were some people who thought that being in the military was a cushy way to garner some government benefits, never realizing that they might be called upon to do what they signed on to do. Fight!

I am totally against the draft. I think that it is a form of slavery. But if you CHOOSE that career, you need to realize the ramifications, before signing on the dotted line.

Do you think the recruiters make sure that the young that they get to sign truly understand those ramifications??

Just as an aside, and it is a total aside since I can't cite a reference. The military in the US is relaxing the rules a bit regarding tatoos. It used to be that they had to be totally covered by military clothing. But now tatoos on the fingers and lower neck are permitted (as long as they are not racist, sexist or whatever elseist). Tatoos on the face or other parts of the head preclude the individual from being in the military.
If there were to be a draft again, how many folks would opt for the tatooed face?
