On "opinions"... go ahead and have lots. But when you have such meager grounds for asserting the truth of them, then have the balls to admit to yourself and anyone else that you are in pretty much the same position as a John Bircher on Jewish Bankers.

Blatham -- I graduated from college in 1969. A classmate was already in the officer training program for the military.

This girl's parents were married in uniform in an Army chapel during WWII and she thought that was the epitome of romance.

Her mother was a member of the John Birch Society but the daughter was advised by her mother not to join, lest she not be commissioned.

She was a history major and I was a political science major. These subjects were under one chairman, a genial man who had been kicked out of Cuba by Castro. When we took the GRE, he simply left our results on a table in his rather lovely office. A friend of mine, a history major, and I approached the good professor, asking for our results. He was at lunch and told us just to go to his office. We did. There were only three test score packets left: our's and the above described girl's.

Dolores, my friend, looked at the packet and at me and back at the packet and back to me. "Should we peek?" she asked. I wanted to as much as she did. The future lieutenant scored in the 2nd percentile . . . which means that 98% of all those taking the same test outranked her. We were stunned.

Anyway, the future lieutenant always said, "You've been duped by the Communists," at some point during every political discussion she participated in.

I say that several here have been duped by the Capitalists.

That's my take on the JBSociety.

Quote:
NICOLE Kidman has made a public stand against terrorism.

The actress, joined by 84 other high-profile Hollywood stars, directors, studio bosses and media moguls, has taken out a powerfully-worded full page advertisement in today's Los Angeles Times newspaper.

It specifically targets "terrorist organisations" such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine.

"We the undersigned are pained and devastated by the civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon caused by terrorist actions initiated by terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas," the ad reads.

"If we do not succeed in stopping terrorism around the world, chaos will rule and innocent people will continue to die.

"We need to support democratic societies and stop terrorism at all costs."

A who's who of Hollywood heavyweights joined Kidman on the ad.

The actors listed included: Michael Douglas, Dennis Hopper, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Danny De Vito, Don Johnson, James Woods, Kelly Preston, Patricia Heaton and William Hurt.

Directors Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Michael Mann, Dick Donner and Sam Raimi also signed their names.

Other Hollywood powerplayers supporting the ad included Sumner Redstone, the chairman and majority owner of Paramount Pictures, and billionaire mogul, Haim Saban.

Ticomaya's quote said, in part--

It specifically targets "terrorist organisations" such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine.

"We the undersigned are pained and devastated by the civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon caused by terrorist actions initiated by terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas," the ad reads.

and then Ticomaya found an excellent picture of a "flying pig"

I know what you are saying, Ticomaya, about when pigs fly but even half educated actors and actressess can read( I hope) and know that the MURDEROUS ISLAMO-FASCISTS WHO BLOW UP NIGHT CLUBS, BUSES AND MARKET PLACES KILLING INNOCENT WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN THE NAME OF ALLAH cannot hope to gain support from civilized people.

Proving, of course, that if Plain Ol Me or her friend Delores would have gone into the service in place of the Lieutenant, Iraq would by now have been pacified.

Plain Ol me would have devised, I am sure, a successful tactic for infiltrating the enemy lines. She would have disguised herself as a cow wearing sun glasses and a straw hat while she moved closer and closer to the center of Kirkut!

Okie- You wrote:

Practice what you preach, blatham.

So I should have the courage to admit I am in the same position as a John Bircher on Jewish Bankers? I don't know how to break the news to you, blatham, but you have no clue what you are talking about. You sound like a nut. I won't even go into your other prattle, including the insinuation that Republicans think blacks are inferior. Go peddle your poison somewhere else. I'm not interested.

*************************************************************
As you have noted, I never tell friends what to do and you are my friend, but please go easy on Mr. Blatam. He had a very severe heart attack last year. My brother had a very bad attack where he was unconscious and had to receive some stents as Mr. Blatham did. My brother still is not the same man he was previously.

Go easy on Mr.Blatham, Okie. Be compassionate!!!

So? I once heard a Republican say that blacks were inferior. That tells me nothing about "republicans" and what you heard tells you equally zip about "actors".

And I have heard several dems say that blacks were inferior,or thay blacks didnt deserve equal rights.

One prominent dem even went so far as to join the KKK because he didnt want blacks to have any rights.

What does that prove?

Clearly, that one simply cannot transgress the boundaries without edging towards a transformative hermeneutics.

I must apologize to Plain Ol Me for the following-

Plain Ol me would have devised, I am sure, a successful tactic for infiltrating the enemy lines. She would have disguised herself as a cow wearing sun glasses and a straw hat while she moved closer and closer to the center of Kirkut!

I have learned that she is too old to engage in combat!

Perhaps she can frighten the enemy by allowing her avatar to be posted on propaganda leaflets.

This is just unbelievable.

Have all A2K conservatives lost their reading ability at once?

Okie made the following statement.

okie wrote:
I still remember some movie star testifying before Congress about allar on apples simply because they appeared in a movie. What a joke. I suppose now they purport to be experts on global warming and the energy crisis,

To which Blatham replied,
Blatham wrote:

It is quite clear to anyone with any reading comprehension abilities that Blatham is saying that because one member of a profession or political party says something, it is a mistake to assume that anyone else in that profession or political party agrees.

So what happens? Okie and BernardR come back with replies decrying Blatham's supposedly accusing Republicans of thinking blacks are inferior-the precise opposite of what Blatham said. And Mysteryman posts this incredible answer:

Collectively, three conservatives not only managed to miss Blatham's easy to grasp point-that because one member of a group says something, you cannot assume any other member of that group agrees-they come down on him for holding the exact opposite view from the one he just expressed!

I know this is looking like a tough election for conservatives, but is everyone on the Right actually in mental breakdown? It certainly seems so.

Kelt, just what did you expect? The parties to which you refer have repeatedly posted some of the most dull-witted, crazy, and ill-informed remarks on site.

You expect pigs to fly, too?

Living in the real world of merit, and before posting on A2K I had never known it was possible for people to be so proud of their lack of mental acuity. Its like they live in some sort of Bizarro World where they think being stupid is a virtue and carry their ignorance aloft as a badge of honor.

Sadly, I guess its all they have. Kind of akin to a poor soul who has little going for him but owning the ugliest dog in town. Its not much, but it is all they have.

Whenever I see one of their noms de plume I am reminded of the remark from Animal House made by Dean Wormer to the John Belushi character: "Fat, Drunk and Stupid Is No Way to Go Through Life, Son."

I wrote no reply decrying Blatham's supposedly accusing Republicans of thinking blacks are inferior!!

Would you care to quote my alleged post "decrying Blatham's supposedly accusing Republicans of thinking blacks are inferior?

You can't because it does not exist.

It does not exist because I have not made any comment about any post made by Blatham since I have discovered that he had indeed suffered a heart attack like my poor brother. Knowing how my poor brother has suffered and is now highly confused, I have, as a compassionate person, not engaged Blatham at all.

GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT OR YOU WILL HAVE TO BE RENAMED--

KELTIC WIZENED.

Could it be the mental breakdown is hitting closer to home than you care to admit?

Let me give you a hint .... the ironic portion is contained somewhere in the following:
