When I was in 8th grade (first year of high school back then) I had a teacher just out of college. History teacher. She said, over and over again, "The only stupid question is the question not asked." A month later, she was still saying that but she would then mutter something to herself. It took awhile for us to figure out what she was murmuring: "...unless it is asked by johnboy."
The Rappin Rednecks have 22 players. Is that where I am supposed to be? A number of them have yellow icons next to their names. What does that mean? One has a red mark next to that and another has DL next to the yellow. What is that about?
I spent 15 or so minutes looking around Yahoo for a link to "The Idiot's Guide To How To Play" but without success.
Thank you. I will eventually figure this out.

Oooh, oooh .....

Yellow icons mean there is news concerning that player. The red mark means it's new news. "DL" means the player has been placed on the "Disabled List."

Am I right?

Totally correct, Tico.
And if johnboy puts his player on a DL slot (there is one per team) he can get another untaken player.

Hey, I shouldn't be saying this! I play against him on the first week!

rjb,

you have players at every position so you are off to a good start. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank yall for your patience with me. My nature is that, if I participate in something, however involved or mundane, I want to know how it works.
I shot the player on my team who was on DL and replaced him. That was pretty easily done. But I am having trouble with the line-up.
I click the various dates, and up comes my roster. If I hit the player's name, up comes a profile. If I click on his position, I can move him. Isn't a lineup 9 players? If I need to select 9, how do I do it?
Both of my catchers are from Baltimeore. Do I need to have the right one in the lineup for the next day's game, or does the computer include the one who is performing that day? Thank you.

You are allowed to start:

2 catchers
1 1b, 2b, ss, 3b and one utility player
3 outfieldres
2 starting pitchers
2 relief pitchers
3 (just plain) pitchers which can be either starters or relievers

The reason for starting multiple pitchers is becasue they do not play every day so you will have some days where none of your pitchers start and others where you may have 5 pitchers starting. In the end it all evens out.

You set your positions using the drop down menus to the right of the players name. You can tell if their team is active that day if there is another team listed under the opponent column. Just because their team plays does not gaurantee that player will play, but you will learn throughout the season who tends to play every game and which ones start less frequently.

You won't have a full roster every day, but as long as you fill as many of the spots as possible every day... you are off to a good start.

What the heck does BN stand for? It's available for everyone's drop down, along with their regular positions.

And one of your Baltimore catchers appears to be playing 1st Base.

To clarify a bit more, rjb, you will not know which catcher is catching that particular day. The computer will tell that they are scheduled to play, but, not knowing what the managers lineup for that day will be, will not be able to tell you specifically which player will play. I think you will find that one of the two will play the majority of the games this season. If you find one player is starting all of the games and the other is on the bench all the time, you may want to scour the waiver wire for a different catcher on a different team to replace the one that is normally on the bench.

And, in your specific case, after a number of games plating first base, Javy Lopez will also qualify as a first baseman. You can then use him in either position.

I am closing in on this... So I have my roster: 22 players who have, I hope, been faithfully taking their steroids. I now understand that I can select 16 of them to be in my starting lineup on a given day. I click on Monday, April 3rd, and the opposing team is listed. Fine. But then I am stumped as to how I enter the 16 players (2 catchers, one 1b etc) I want to play. Thank you.

The 1st baseman you want to play that day should have a 1B(from the drop down menus) next to him on your "My Team" page. Any other firstbaseman should be benched and have a BN next to him since that position is already filled. If you have a second 1st baseman you want to play you can use him for the utility (Util) position. Repeat steps for all other positions (ie. 2nd baseman should have 2B, 3rd base should have 3B and so on and so forth).
