Bonderman had 4 straight wins, got whipped today, but didn't lose.
Lackey had won 6 out of his last 7 starts. Was whipped today and lost.
Snell did not pitch bad, but lost.
See what I mean?
Hmmm. The Shmoke smells like fish. Aqueous tobacco.
PS Looks like by the end of this week it'll be very close to a 3-way tie for 1st.
The Rednecks finally had a good play against Sister Fister. But not quite good enough to catch up with Tico in the standings.
This week we face the Pancake.
I have told my guys to gird their loins.

Wrong.
You gotta send them to a witch doctor, for a devil-eye cleansing. They're bound to have a bad game spell if you don't.

Isn't it difficult to run in a girdle?
Then again, the woman in the photo would also have trouble sliding.
Jespah,
I'm having troubles seeing how that girdle would prevent someone from sliding... perhaps if you posted more pictures...
ps... I'm back to winning again... and so is Jespah. Go figure.
As a total diversion here, I did some etymological research on "girding of loins."
"gird," as I am sure you know, has no relation to girdle (but keep those pictures coming). Rather it means "to prepare oneself for battle...with power and strength.."
"Loins" is the area of the body of human or other animals above the hips and to the left and right of the backbone; behind and below the ribs.
Later, in literature, "loins" became a word associated with the genital area, meaning the source of "strength and generative power."
So, according to my source, "girding one's loins" means preparing for a battle of strength or endurance.
So there. -rjb-
Well, with six weeks left, seems like it'll be a battle between the puppies, the nameless and the pancakes.
I still entertain the idea of a miraculous, movie worthy comeback. In fact, I planned my descent into 7th place and will come back to 1st at the last week just to show my team is so good it can also be good at being bad.

I've given up on the notion of finishing in the running, and am now just focused on claiming the record for most transactions in a single fantasy season.
Now that's a bold move. Just remember that if you break the record, Canseco will probably write a book about alleged steroid use.
BTW: I'm going to a Royals game this Saturday (vs. Oakland), which I would never have thought of doing before this fantasy season. This experience has kindled my interest in the sport immensely. I have found myself watching baseball whenever I can, even if I don't have a player involved. I'm going to suffer withdrawals when the season ends.
I know what you mean. There are some years where I follow baseball kinda close, and there are others where I just keep up on the big news. Fantasy has gotten me a wee bit more interested in this season.
In the midst of the baseball season, when I sit in front of the tv at reasonable hours I know I won't channel surf because I'll only search ESPN, FoxSports and 4SD (Padres Channel) for a baseball game, even if I only watch them for a few minutes I leave with a 'time well-spent' feeling.
But the royals? That's just hardcore.

Glad you are enjoying the season, Tico.
Withdrawls are only slightly curtailed by the Fantasy Football season. If you guys are interested I'll set up a league. It is roughly the same idea but only one day of games per week and different stats.
Oh and for those of you that are worried about finishing out of the running... remember it all comes down to the playoffs where anything can happen.

True, but look at it this way .... they have tremendous upside potential.
Plus, a friend of mine is a huge Royals fan (yes, there are a few of those still), and he bought the tickets.

Count me among those interested in Fantasy Football.
Playoffs?
Yeah, playoffs?
Who gets in the playoffs?
Do we change players when the season's over?
Is there a place where I can read that?
Yes playoffs.
Playoffs start in week 23 (3 weeks from now). I believe the top 6 teams get in the playoffs. From there it is kind of like starting over. It doesn't matter where you are in the standings... it only matters what you do that particular week. So if Tico goes up against the Puppies in week one and wins, then the Puppies are out and Tico is still in. So there is still hope for those eligible for the play-offs.
Here is a link to the play-off schedule as it stands right now:

The playoffs are the real thing, lady and gentlemen!
The key is not to finish 7th or 8th.
My goal now is to avoid the Boston Puppies before the final. To do that I must finish third or second.
The Boston Puppies are a much harder to beat than the Boston Red Sox.
Tico: In addition to NFL Fantasy play, there is a thread on A2K (which I have run for the last season and a half but which will be co-hosted by panzade this season if I can find him) where the simple object is to pick the winning teams each week. A minimal time investment; perhaps 10 minutes a week. I hope you will join us. I forget the name, which speaks volumes about the level of intelligence needed to participate!
