Not only that, I was very happy with his performance only to find out today I had benched him.
Why doesn't he perform when I play him?

OK, so I am in last place. But, hey, it was only April.
We, last place standers in April, shall come back.

Yes, we, the Pancho Villa Raiders, the Kansas City Royals (oops), the San Diego Padres (oops), the Pittsburgh Pirates (oops), the Florida Marlins (oops), the Seattle Mariners (oops) and, last but not least, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (oops).

I'll take V. Martinez off your hands in exchange for Grady Sizemore, Gary Sheffield, Toby Hall, and a draft pick to be named later.

Just let me know.

Well, I watched Jonathan Papelbon pitch for the first time, just now ... and he immediately gave up his first run of the season.

All my hitters decided not to play this week I guess. I'm losing to he Sister Fisters.

Tico... I think that happens to me more often than not. Or, I'll turn off a game where my team is getting blown out and the next morning I'll here of the 10 9th inning comeback that was the best game in years.

Except for '04, I learned to not watch the Red Sox during the playoffs. Any time I watched more than maybe a second during a channel change, they would get hammered. '04 didn't exactly put the end to my curse, it just changed it a bit; in '05 it didn't seem to be quite so reliable that they would lose if I watched.

I bet your team would be happy if you cheered for them while watching all this week.

Check out the rout in the match between the Pancakes and the Rednecks. And it ain't as close as it looks! My lineup of hitters on Wed batted a collective .550 (12 for 22) The guys I put on the bench went 2-14 (.150). My starting pitchers are coming down to earth after a lofty start to the season. I do have two relief pitchers, though, who have done well by me. Each throws an inning an outing two or three times a week. That hurts my team's IP score but they are racking up Saves as they evidentally play for teams that win.
I noticed a couple of yall have made some wholesale changes to your rosters in the last few days. Fine tuning or panic? I made one add/drop today and tried to make another, only to discover that the player had a "Can not drop" designation. How did that happen. Am I stuck with him for the season?
I am off to Chicago at 6 am tomorrow for the A2K party. I've got my lineups set until I return Monday evening. Yall have a fine weekend.

I'm sure they would ... but I've resolved to watch no more of them ... at least this week.

Fine tuning. Several good players have been picked up by other teams here in the last couple of days ... players I was hoping would be there for me when I needed them.

Here's my guess: It seems the "can not drop" designation is for the top 6 picks. I think you are stuck with him, unless he goes on the DL list.

Have fun in Chicago.

I dunno, you might be able to cut if your guy goes on the DL. I'm not sure.

Just fine-tuning here, too, I had a pitcher (Patterson) go on the DL so I had to pick up someone.

Had a pretty good day yesterday even though I benched Thome in favor of Ortiz. Ortiz went 0 for 3 with a strikeout and a walk, whereas Thome also had a strikeout and a walk, but also a home run and a double, and 3 RBIs. I also benched Cano in favor of Soriano, that was also a bad move, although not as spectacularly bad. Soriano was 0 for 4 with a strikeout, Cano 1 for 5 with a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored.

rjb, I think ERA and WHIP tend to be better the fewer innings pitched, but Ks are worse, so you kind of just decide which stat(s) you prefer and go from there.

I share your pain, jespah. Personally, I think I need to adopt a "hands-off" approach as my new management style for a while.

Unless of course your closer gives up a run or two.

Wait .. let me look up their respective stats before I answer.

...

Well, it turns out I do have a problem ... luckily for you you're only #3 on the waiver pickup ranking. Twisted Evil

No, of course I don't have a problem with it. I nearly did the same thing myself a while back. I didn't know you could "override" the waiver wait.
