I'm pretty sure I heard a term for 'redneck' a while back, might've not been exactly on the spot but pretty close. Literally it would be 'cuellosrrojos' from 'cuellos-neck' and 'rojo-red'. Maybe fbaezer could help me with that.

Also... hermosa means beautiful, hermana is sister so you weren't far off.

Since this is Slappy we're talking about, "hermosa" is wrong for several reasons.

Oopsie. Did I mention it's been a few decades since I had occasion to speak Spanish? How 'bout midget? I'm sure Slappy wouldn't mind that reference.

Ok, let's see:

Cerveceros de Milwaukee
Tacomaniacos
Perritos de Boston
Tamales Feroces
Invasores Villistas

And the hard ones:

Fumandounpanqueque (Miami magazine translation of pancake).

Sor Puñetas (I think this is a very good one)

and...

Guajiros Raperos (very good Cuban Spanish translation, since a guajiro is a white ignorant, often racist, peasant) or...

Baturros Raperos (the baturro is Spain's equivalent of a guajiro, but they don't play baseball in Spain).

Palurdos Raperos (Palurdos is the general Spanish translation for ignorant rough peasants, but it stresses ignorance, not belonging to a certain social group).

Now, the rednecks are strictly from the USA, so alternatives would be Palurdos Gringos Raperos or Guajiros Gringos Raperos.

Make your choice.

An amusing diversion, there, into the art of translation. A friend of mine does that for a living and it is an art. Translating words is easy; translating the nuances of words or phrases must be very challenging.
So the Rednecks trail the Raiders by a couple of points through Friday. I take solace in the notion that, of the categories in which Fbaezer leads, 7 are still very close. Only, perhaps, 1 of the categories in which I lead is in doubt.
I got rid of one of my batters today who was, through 5 games, 1 for 21. I dropped him and added a new guy.
Two questions: I noticed that someone amongst us has put B(arry) Bonds-OF/San Fran on waivers. Who owned him?
And what is waivers all about? I dropped a player and added another. Is there some advantage to the waiver option?

I believe he was owned by the Milwaukee Cerveceros, until put on waivers.

My understanding of waivers is that when you drop a player, he is on waivers for 3 days, during which time he can be picked up by any team, but only at the end of the waiver period. If more than one team wants him, the team ranked highest on the waiver list will get him. If no team claims him at the end of the waiver period, he goes into the Free Agent pool. Someone correct me if I have misunderstood this process.

some pinpoint translations there fbaezer...

Sor Puñetas r0xXx0rZZZzzZ!!!!!11oneoneuno

ahem.. um..

Schmokeana? We'd have to ask ... who's managing schmokeana?

I thought guajiro was only a cuban farmer, peasant.. does he have to be white and racist?

I'm closer to the pancakes now.. only trailing by 1 point.. I hope 3 players on sunday doubleheaders give me the edge.

woooo... posting at 2:15am is not advisable

Not necessarily racist, but white and ignorant.
You can ask me, my father's father was a guajiro.

Wooo... Them Tacomanicas are tough. I thought I had a pretty decent lineup but Tico beat me in every batting category except for stolen bases and ground into double play. I made up a couple in the pitching categories but still got it handed to me for a 6 point loss. Nice week Tico.

I blame Bartolo Colón for the tight loss against the rappers.
Revenge will be sweet in a couple of months.

Thanks, fbaezer, for a very challenging Week #1. I got home this afternoon expecting to see that you had snagged a category or two (home runs or batting average or any of several others that were very closely contested) but my one point lead held. A tie would have been a big let-down.
Thanks again. Good luck against the Milwaukee Ballers.

No problem johnboy.
It is really pretty easy and a minimal time requirement... (blah blah, jp explains)...
If you have any other questions just let me know.

well, shut yo' mouth as we lift our legs
watch us pitch, field and bunt
what can I say? This dog can hunt

Word.

My starting pitchers are doing the unthinkable: they're ALL losing their games. Sad
