I hope you make it, Bella.

I'm guessing it separated overnight. The foam is probably some of the air that was originally created in the blender. I've never stored one but I'm sure it's fine, if a little runny.

Slappy, I have a few references that state that flax oil increases the satiety of foods better than other fats, but no real explanation as to why. All fats increase the satiety of foods over fat-free versions and many diet plans are now advocating low-fat over fat-free for that reason. For whatever reason, flax oil is touted as better at suppressing the appetite than other fats.

The combination of the air whipped into the smoothie giving it greater volume - another thing that improves satiety (why air would keep you full longer is beyond me, but it supposedly does), the presence of the flax oil and the whey protein (described in one book as better than soy because it has the highest protein efficiency ratio of all protein sources and does not exacerbate hyperactivity, panic attacks, hair loss, adrenal burnout, fatigue, and hypothyroidism the way soy can).

Also, most current diet plans are recommending you eat something every three hours. Breakfast should only need to keep you satisfied until a mid to late morning snack, which should also include a protein source such as a hard boiled egg (preferably omega-3 rich) or hummus with veggies.

None of this answers the 'why', really but for whatever reason the smoothies hold me over for 3 to 4 hours.

Bella, it's probably better to drink them soon after blending, simply for better consistency and to keep them inflated.

But nothing will make me sick if I drink it today and tomorrow? I made enough for two days...I am lazy, what can I say?

I can't imagine how it would make you sick as long as it's refrigerated. Can you put it in something covered and give it a good shake to mix it back up?

Yeah, it mixed up ok. Little runny but tasted the same.

I will know better next time.

I don't think it has a taste at all. In fact, I dipped my finger in it to taste it and was surprised to find it had no taste at all!

Some brands taste like paint thinner. It's made from ground flax seeds (also known as linseed) which is used in paints. I was reminded of the smell of my mother's paint pots when I bought my first bottle. The brand I'm using now (Barlean's highest lignans) doesn't seem to have the paint thinner taste the other brand did.

I thought of something else on using liquid flax oil, Bella. You should shake the bottle before using it. The lignans will settle to the bottom and you'll end up with sludge if you don't shake it up before using it. Besides, much of the flax benefits come from the lignans.

Thanks JB.

I am having a really bad day today...the president of my company is coming in this week and I can't fit into any of my dress pants. Which means that tonight i have to go shopping for some. Which wouldn't be bad if I was shopping because I wanted to be shopping instead of because my fat ass won't fit into anything.

I also have come to the realization that I need to visit an opthamologist because I probably have Graves Ophthalmopathy. Something my first endo didn't tell me about. But the more I read up on my disease the more it tells me that my eye problems aren't just coincidence. And that I probably have a mild (thank god) case of thyroid eye disease. Flax oil is suppose to help with it, so I am hoping that it does.

It's a bummer of a day.

Oh no, DrewDad! The Eva Diet says, "Life is too short to eat stuff you don't like." There are plenty of foods that taste good and are still healthy.

Um....okay, not enough, mind you, but....well....they are out there. Razz

Did flax oil give anyone else a bit of a stomach ache? Not bad and not for long but sort of a queasy stomach ache right after taking it?

I watch my diet religiously, but the rule is one day a week, pig out and satsify your urges. In the long run, it won't hurt, especially if you exercise and do cardio regularly.

Yesterday was my day. Ice Cream, Peanut Butter, Sweet and Sour Shrimp, chocolate milk.

Now it's back to brown rice, oatmeal, veggies and soy protein. No worries.

your metabolism will slow as you age and you find you have to do things to keep it up and keep the extra weight and bodyfat at bay... it's inevitable.

I didn't weigh 100 lbs until I was 25 and had the metabolism of a bird... that has changed some although I'm still slim I have to work at it. I don't mind though... feeling good is great.
