Well, as long as we're posting 'blogs', here's an interesting statement from a Democrat who has definitely become disillusioned with his party. I wonder how many more are out there.

I am no longer a Democrat

Did you even read the blog, SS? This person is a study in confusion.

Quote:
Well, I don't see the point is holding out hope anymore. It's official now: the Democrats have jumped off the cliff, and are in free fall toward a richly deserved oblivion. I'll continue to vote for Democratic candidates when and if they're the best for the job. I might even continue to root for a Democratic takeover of the House and Senate this November, if only to shake things up and rebuke the Republicans for their corruption, their lies and their failures. But my "default" setting in the voting booth is no longer the Democratic column. As of today, I'm an independent.

This person of note, [remember who has brought them to the table here] had a "default setting". That's precisely the thing that so many of us have been decrying here.

Tico has a "default seeting" but his has been epoxied into his soul.

The most cogent thing he/she wrote was, "Yet I remain profoundly uncomfortable with the Republican Party for a variety of reasons".

Duuuuuhhh.

You want to know how many more disillusioned democrats there are out there. Plenty. That's the difference between them and these sheep like Tico, Okie, McG, ... . They know what D Lowan pointed up, when something's wrong, it's wrong and it should be fixed. It doesn't mean slavish devotion, the kind we see here time and again.

That is soooooo lost on folks like Tico and McG.

Go back and read Glenn Greenwald. Read his bio. Read, realy read what he wrote. Read what Andrew Sullivan, a dyed in the wool conservative wrote. Address the fundamental truths found in that "blog" instead of mounting a tico.

"mounting a tico". Could become a new idiom.

No, but a certain poster seems to be following me around the site this morning, spamming and generally being a troll.

That poster is not you, McT.

(Or Mr. Hinteler. )

Your cigar is quivering in your lips, Tico. Suck harder. We know you have it in you. Smile

Well JTT, I could refer you to a lot of posts in which both Tico and McG have expressed displeasure at something the GOP has done or is planning and I can refer you to posts in which both thought a Democrat got it right.

I dont' believe, however, that I can find a single quote of yours that criticizes the Left or sees anything positive whatsoever in what the GOP is doing or planning. So who is the sheep here? I think three fingers are pointing back at you.

Yes, I did. This is my favorite part:

Quote:
So I've continued to cling to the label of Democrat, and to the hope that the party would somehow save itself from the tired orthodoxies of its interest groups and the execrable excesses of its far-left wing. I've shaken my head at the irrational policies and irresponsible rhetoric coming from so many corners of the party, comforting myself with the thought that while Dennis Kucinich may be a nutjob and Al Sharpton may be a charlatan and Howard Dean may be an idiot and Dick Durbin may be, well, a dick, at least there's still Joe Lieberman.

Will he continue to vote for Democrats? Sure - he says "when and if" he thinks they're the right choice, though.

Do I agree with his ideology 100%? No, but I'm encouraged that he (and his Mom, LOL) recognize just how badly the far-left loonies are hurting his party.

I think he's one of the few who won't have to see a shrink to sort it out (remember what happened after '04?) because he already sees the light.

And you expect me to take this offer seriously when Tico's, McG's and Foxy's fingers point back?

I'd suggest you "knock yourself out, girl", but what we don't need is one more dog and pony show.

Your concern is indeed commendable, SS and, not to mention, timely. But if you'll note, it's not the far left loonies that are running the country into the ground.

Not according to you. To me, the ex-Democrat (and his Mom LOL), however.........

Fox, unfortunately, the free market doesn't always work. There was a free market in Russia under the Czars that led to mass starvation and revolt.

Which references, if any, can you cite for your contention that (1) the market in agriculture was free under the Czar and that (2) there was mass starvation? How does Russian mass starvation under the Czar compare to the Russian mass starvation after the Communists had abolished free markets?

Advocate wrote:
There was a free market here in 1929, and it took Roosevelt's state programs to prevent starvation and revolt.

Only after the Federal Reserve Bank, an agency of the Federal Government, had created the Great Depression, in a catastrophical failure at the job it existed to do. That job was to stabilize the money supply and prevent depressions. For details, refer to Friedman and Schwartz: Monetary History of the United States, 1867-1960. Princeton University Press (1963) The book makes a Nobel-prize winning case that the Great Depression wouldn't have happened under the monetary systems that preceded the Fed. (Admittedly, a number of smaller depressions did happen under that earlier system, too.)

I don't live in CT, but I am definitely a Lamonster. When Republican friends tell you how much they like Lieberman, I know there is a problem with him. After all, he not only backed Bush on Iraq, but has never wavered in this. He also backed Bush on torture and school vouchers. These are important Republican positions. I do give him credit for opposing affirmative action. He has earned the right to move on and enjoy the winter of his life.

Returning to Bush, he and the Republicans promised all out spending on the Gulf Coast following Katrina. But the spending has been slow and niggardly. For instance, NO needs about $2 billion to restore its sewage system. The administration has instead loaned the city about $32 M. The administration is only now beginning to give funds to people to assist in rebuilding, although most people have given up and moved on. Bush and company has given the same amount of money to Mississippi as given to Louisiana, although the latter has lost three times the homes and a major city. (The reason: Haley Barbour, the hot shot Republican, is the governor of Mississippi.)

Huh. When I see that democrats agree with McCain, I just figure they have the good sense to understand him. I welcome them instead of treating them like **** as the extreme left does.

I'd suggest you "knock yourself out, girl", but what we don't need is one more dog and pony show.

Let's just move the discussion to the Democrat's thread.

Whatever you want to discuss. I'd love an envigorating discussion.

Then reading comprehension is NOT a strong skill for you? From your posts, you are not a Bush supporter which leads me to wonder why you would post here other then to create drama... I am sure you can find a thread full of the drama you crave elsewhere.

You're the one who asked, Lash. I think it would be highly enlightening [and probably entertaining] for you to have a discussion any ole place you choose. Have at 'er.

There are plenty of delusional people on the Democrat's Gloat thread--or the Obama 08. Go bother them.

I guess McG wants this thread to be a love feast for Bush supporters. How boring!

BTW, I notice that the right has to stoop to ad hominian comments when unable to refute statements from the left. Pathetic!
