I somehow reset my resolution to low..... so, all my shots from today are grainy. But, still some nice pics to view as snaps.

Almost a year later! Today Dasha and I went hiking at the Blue Hills Reservation, South of Boston. Here are some shots.

Indian Pipes (not mushrooms, chlorophil-less plants)

Tree face (with maybe a little help from a biped)

Brain rock - have no idea how this might of formed. But, Dasha is pretty sure it's got something to do with pressure

The brain rock is evidence of two separate types of rock being laid down. Softer mudstone or limestone (just two examples) is washed (eroded) from between the harder layers.

And, look close, some dragonflies with their reflections

Thanks Amigo. And, thank you for the explanation (not explainer*!), dadpad.

(* explainer is being used all over radio and it irks me)

The hike we took was around a swampy pond called Ponkapoag (sounds like the wampanoag language, eh) Pond. A boardwalk ran through swampy (cedars) and boggy bits to the edge of the lake.

Approach to lake's edge through the open bog

Thanks all!

MsOlga, that photo looks a little surreal. The boardwalk looks more like a diving board not hovering over water, but over the clouds in the sky.

Hey, Kris, enjoyed the photos. Nice close-ups.

Haven't touched my camera in months, except to take some shots of my wife and I together.
