Boomer - coming from you, that means a lot (have I said that already?)! Thanks!

2packs, yeah, making it macro was the only thing I could come up with. The fern shot was one of my least favorite (of the posted) because it was too monochromatic in the top half - The ferns don't contrast enough with the background greenery.

mandso - it's a high tech camera in that it's digital. But, it's not THAT high tech. It's a Fuji FinePix E550. It has a 4x optical zoom. It probably costs less than $300 (it was a gift). Welcome to a2k, by the way.....

I can see those as a framed series -- really nice.

Hehehe, the people I was with thought I was nutty for taking the shots I was taking. I can't see selling this type of imagery. Who wants to put mushrooms, lichen and moss on their walls?

Macro is the right term.

My wife grows and sells African violets on the net, so we have to have a digital camera. When our old camera quit on us she checked the AV sites to see what cameras they recomended, all of her fellow sellers were adamant that she get a camera with Macro/Super Macro capabiliites.

Which didn't make any sense until I looked at the descriptions of the cameras.

great for taking shots of plants. Would you PM me her web address? I kind of have a think for african violets and cape primrose (streptocarpus).

Sorry I missed your posts....I usually just click new posts and I tend to lose a few while weeding thru all the S&R threads. Shocked

I'm starting to see why people use "Book Mark"....so they can find the threads in "My Posts" instead of doing as I do.

I'll ask her about it in the morning, and I'll get back to you.

Yeah that last one....I want to stick my bare feet in it....no idea what it is but it looks like wet mud.

My wife still has her site, but I can't send PM's. She didn't want me to post it here, and it would probably go aginst the TOS anyway...but if you want to you can send me an email and she can write you back. If you can't see my addy in my profile let me know I'll put it in my next message.

2packs, that last one wouldn't be so nice for putting your feet in, it's glass.

Gosh littlek, you have an eye for the unusual, yet beautiful things. You should get into it more professionally - you
certainly have talent.

Thanks CJ!

About that glass image: it is a door to an old cabinet that has a rippled glass panel behind a carved wood frame. The light comes through the glass from a window with sheer cotton drapes diffusing the light.

Not at all. Pin it down to not being on A2K too much lately and only checking select forums.

You must have been interested in photograhy for some time to take such good shots.

Me, I haven't done anything for literally decades, other than the occasional family stuff.

For me, digital photography has opened the hobby up again. I'm not afraid to take chances with some shots, knowing full well that I can simply delete my mistakes later, and not feel guilty for wasting "film" and developing bum pics.

I'll definitely comment on any future stuff you post.

Kris, all 4 of the above could easily pass for paintings, in my opinion. I think that's the mark of a good abstract photo, as well as being "unrecognizable".

#2 looks like smoke, and #4, to me, appears like shimmering water.

Which photo-editing program are you using? I've been through a few myself, but have found that the Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 is very user-friendly.
