in fact, she calls me shithead everytime I see her, I'm her favorite. I hope to see her this spring. Her daughter is a new-ager, that makes her a fruitcake as well.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification, Wanda. It is certainly a different thought process than I thought you were saying.

Just how does one go about saving someone's soul? Not to be disrespectful, but it sounds like David Koresh or Jim Jones to me.

No problem.Very Happy

That's a good question. I just do whatever God leads me to do. It's more what he does thru them. When people try and won souls over to God, I think he gives them the sources they need when they need it. Bible scriptures bring up quite contraversy, kinda like striking a nerve, I noticed. But it can be strong and effective if the person is ready to open up and receive it I think. Nonbelievers usually don't understand bible verses however and only see the bad part of them thinking we are condemming them. When in fact, when someone receives the holy spirit, the Bible is very comforting. That's not understood until they turn over tho. We just have to remember not to give up, because God doesn't give up on us, he keeps working us, waiting. Other than that, I can't think of anything besides to show the love we should for everyone nomatter what.
If anyone else can add to that to answer your question, they're free to jump in too.

Wanda

I agree with you in some ways, Wanda, in that I do find parts of scripture comforting. I don't limit myself to Christian scripture and I don't agree with all of the Christian canon, but there is certainly comfort to be found in the message. I don't agree with the part about turning over, or impending doom, or rapture, or annointing oils and a prespecified number of saved souls but I accept they are part of your faith and I hope they bring you peace.

lash said shitty on a christian thread, is that different than saying shitty on a non-christian thread? My 84 yr old aunt is a devout christian and she says shitty all the time, is she going to hell?
Yes fruitcakes.

I apologized out of respect for the thread...or something like that.

Them excusing me wasn't absolution from God.

And, you called me a doorstop.

Not at all, I called you a fruitcake that is like a doorstop. At the farm we had cast iron door stops that were like frogs but not like furitcakes, you are more like a fruitcake than a frog.

Thank you, Wanda but I find peace in not worrying about those things that are outside my control. If you are at peace with your convictions then I'm happy for you but rushing out to save the souls of others will probably be a thankless and fruitless enterprise.

J_B,

Sorry to interrupt, but can you tell me why you think it would be a thankless and fruitless enterprise?

Sure, Wanda said (somewhere back a few dozen pages) that she feels compelled to help save others because she feels the end is near. First, the end was near in Jesus' day and the end has been near for the past 2000 years, so unless Wanda has hit the target on the bullseye, the end will continue to be near in the Christian venacular for a very, very long time yet.

So because we don't know for sure when He will come again we shouldn't worry about spreading His word?

I don't think it falls to anyone to spread anything other than the butter on their toast.

Jesus told his disciples to go out and teach all nations. That is the teaching that carries on.

Well, this is where we disagree. Jesus might have said that to the twelve but given that he thought the end was imminent, I don't think he ever intended anyone else to take on the banner (and don't bring up Paul, I don't want to get into it) so NO, I don't think Jesus intended "us" to carry on the banner or the message.

J_B, why do you think that? Why wouldn't Jesus want the gospel spread? He came to save everyone.

Ok J_B, we can pick this up tomorrow.

I think He did come to save everyone, but only if they want saving. He gives us all the same opportunity. We just don't all take advantage of it.
