I don't know about you guys but, I can't seem to give kindness and gentleness (in the spirit of love) to people who spit it my face without Jesus.

Apart from the vine....we can do nothing!

What do you think Momma....Intrepid?

Bartikus,
We are Christian, but we are also human. Nobody takes kindly to being spat upon. As humans we tend to lash out. As Christians, we have to stop and evaluate the things that are not the ways of the Saviour. We can look at the fact that he ran the money changers out of the temple but we also have to look at turning the other cheek. We gain nothing from lashing out, but gain much by following the footsteps of Jesus.

Easy to say, but hard to keep to.

Bartikus,

I understand how you feel. It's hard to continue to show love when it is met with ridicule and meanness. All we can do is continue to do what Jesus would have us do. I had something called a God-shaped hole in my heart once. I think we all have that until we find the Lord. Unfortunately, not everyone feels or believes the way we do.

But, no matter what, we must do our best to maintain the love of Jesus when dealing with others. You have support. If I get particularly upset, I will PM another Christian and ask for prayer or help. You are more than welcome to do this.

Just remember, Jesus is the reason for everything.

Just wondering why you keep changing your avatar and what this new one is supposed to be?

Who me? Well, I changed my avatar today because Christmas is over. I usually change it on a whim because most people keep theirs forever.

My current one is something that I have used before. Years ago, we had a joke in the office that we would get beanies for everybody. I now have my personalized beanie.

I have used actual pictures of me from childhood to present. I have used my family crest. I have used various actors. I used William Shatner for a while with a cigar in his mouth that I stole (err, borrowed) from Ticomaya's avatar. I have used some that I have made.

I will probably continue to change my avatar. I have used Intrepid as my handle for about 15 years or more.

Would you guys say that it is easier to be kind to others insults in this forum to someone than in a face to face situation?

For me, I would not say anything to someone on a forum that I would not say to their face.

I would have to agree with Intrepid. I really don't like to say things behind other's backs. Of course, I may hold my tongue and just not say anything at all.

Actually, I think face to face contact is easier. You can get your tone and inflection across a lot easier than you can by just posting it. Of course, smileys help!http://www.smileys.ws/smls/yahoo/00000023.gif

That might be true but given the fact that on a forum....one can pause and give a great deal of thought before reacting is easier in a way than in person.

If people were hurling horrible insults at your kid...in your face...it would be harder to turn the cheek than if someone here did it right?

I have to agree with you there. I am learning to sit back and breathe before I immediately post sometimes.

No, I don't agree. I think at the same speed whether someone is talking to me or if I am reading it. I can type as fast as I can talk, so to me it is the same.

That moment to breathe and take a minute is not always available in the real world.

A person could write to another in a loving appearance.....and not have love in their heart.

A person could write in a hateful appearence and not have hate in their heart as well.

That is true. We cannot tell what is another's heart and mind. We can tell what is in ours and we must not compromise that.

A person can give an appearence of a friend and be anything but in this world.
