You're welcome. The word is quite interesting, coming from an old Romany word for "gypsy"

I was thinking of it re chauvainism, however you spell that.
Gypsies, eh, I worry 'bout 'em. They are pests in tourist areas of italy, but I've gained a lot of sympathy the more I watched them, and the more I read. Class is over-rated.

after yesterday's game every team must be praying that they dont run into argentina.

this is one supremely talented team - and aimar hasnt played yet.

maradona was the greatest player of them all and scored two of the most enjoyable goals in all history - both in the same match. the third most enjoyable goal of them all was the 2nd goal yesterday.

i just hope england runs into argentina. riquelme' alone has more talent than all of the pom soccer team. if beckham was argentine he'd be playing 4th division. england play the most boring ass long ball game of them all and has no business even aspiring to go to the quarterfinals.

the hand of god should slap them tight again.

VAMOS ARGENTINA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crouch was doing that all game and got several calls for it. He should have gotten a card. But even if they pull back the goal, it's still a win for England. Trinidad earned worldwide respect, though.

As for Holland being the best divers, I have to say that honor goes to Mexico. They managed to get a yellow card for Angola by diving when the player hadn't even made contact. Angola could have beat them, even with only 10 men on the field. I don't think they'll fare so well against Portugal.

But yeah, Argentina, curse them, is the team to beat.

Hey don't diss the English, that's the Scots' job.

I actually think the English are going to get a lot of good results. They are learning not to use the crash-bang-wallop approach, and if and when they figure out how to use Owen properly, watch out.

Is there any review for incorrect decisions like that? A player who's wrongly been carded shouldn't have to carry that into the next match.

Portugal-Iran now.

The Portuguese had a really powerful start, but they didn't accomplish to score in the first minutes, like in the game with Angola and Iranians just had their first organised attacks.

Quick question about the rules of soccer. Can a player be offside in his own half?

I love the way everyone wants a piece of the English Cool

By the way, England have beaten Argentina the last two times they've played them, with the game in Geneva last year being one the best best friendly matches I've seen in recent times. England 3 - 2 Argentina. I personally felt that a draw was the fair result in that game but we really went for it right till the end, it was a great game to watch though. We played with a bit more freedom in that game, something we've lacked badly in the WC so far.

EDIT: I don't believe so Wilso.

Speaking as an impartial observer....

every striker goes throught the 90 minutes being fouled and impeded constantly by the centre-backs. (Have you ever closely observed the antics at corner kicks?) And so, they take advantage when they can. It's not really much to do with sporting behaviour and fair play, regrettably.

I thought Crouch was treated a little unfairly because of his size by the ref in that game to be honest. Wilso, it was to the offside decisions. As for yellow card decisions being overturned, I'm less sure but I've seen sending offs that have been due to two yellow cards being reduced to just 1 yellow if 1 of them was unwarranted etc. Appeals are always possible if it has unfortunate implications etc, certainly appeal panels exist but they predominantly deal with red cards.

I don't think so. Considering that a T&T player got a yellow card for shirt pulling, and the amount of shirt pulling that Crouch did that resulted in maybe the occasional foul called, he was treated more than fairly. Personally, I think hair-pulling is very unflattering and makes him look a bit like a girly man. I understand body to body pushing and boxing out -- that is part of the game. Pulling hair and shirts in order to pull players down is something else entirely.
