Not a good start for them, that's for sure.
2-1 Holland. They're still in it.
So the ref doesnt call the 3-0, and now its 2-1... thought it would be a goal fest but now it might be tight.
Poof! "Death group" arranged. I hope argies and oranges take their next match seriously. Tricolor time!
Ah well, good for Holland. I wish that it could have been them and Ivory Coast to come out of this group, but it is what it is.
Wow, Ivory Coast was much more of a danger than I ever would have thought. After we scored twice in five minutes I was thinking, hey we could go after Argentina's result earlier in the day - but especially in the second half, Ivory Coast was way too close for comfort, way too present near our goal.
They played better than against Argentine, less of the dribbling the ball in individual wizardry, then dying in beauty, more effective play (though still not enough).
The last 10 minutes or so I was really holding my breath, and I think Holland were very relieved at the end-whistle.
But those two goals we scored were beauties..

Why does everybody hate Argentina?
They beat the Netherlands in the finals in '78 in a very dirty game.. People remember.

Ivory coast then.
Take that, treacherous Thomas!
So was the one from the IC striker. A classic threader.
Well, I missed my first match of the World Cup.
The better half arrived home after a week away, and conjugal demands were made. I considered the matter carefully for ten seconds, and am now enjoying a Havana.
Final Score:
Holland 2
Ivory Coast 1
Ellpus 1
Btw: having looked through various papers: my photo of the Posh Spice was better than in most published papers :wink:
I thought Holland were lucky. I thought IC could have gotten a couple of penalties, and the result could have been very different. And so far Holland have been the best divers and actors I've seen. They're supposed to be ranked no.3 in the world? I couldn't see them beating England, Argentina or the Czech Republic. They're going to miss out again.
Just got this info from the draw I referred to earlier.
The two teams coming first and second in each group qualify for the second round.

(a)greater number of points obtained in all the group matches;

(c)goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
(d)greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the teams concerned;
(e)goal difference in all the group matches;
(f)greater number of goals scored in all the group matches;
(g)drawing lots by the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup.
Rules obtained from http://www.fifa.com/documents/static/regulations/WC06-English.pdf
That was shown on Austrian and German tv yesterday, but even on Friday no-one seriously believed that the FIFA would take any action.
The latest news about this is six hours old ... and only referring to those 24 hours old tv-pictures.
OK, I'll be the naif again. Who is that and what does Chav mean? I know Beckham and beau did some art installation whohah, and gather this is her, and further conjecture she is one of the spice girls. Given that is so, chav means what? (be gentle, please...)

"Chav" in GB equates pretty much to "trailer trash" in the USA
It also suggests flamboyant dress, too much cheap jewellery, loud behaviour, no "class".
