This thing is a Panini World Cup sticker album. They're these books you can get which contain loads of information about the tournament, the players, the schedules, the history etc. They also have spaces throughout the booklet as each team is covered in depth for you to collect stickers of the player pictures to add into the booklet.

Oh yeah!!

I remember sticker book like that from the European Championships ... 1980 ;-)

You had/have em for the national competition as well ... still have four or five of em from the early 80s somewhere in a box at home ...

Has the pommy team released a single yet?

I liked 'World In Motion' in 1990 - even if New Order were recycling themselves.

Football players doing rap. I laughed until I stopped....

Ive got a single, somewhere, of either Nottingham Forest or Tottenham Hotspur doing 'We've Got the Whole World (in Our Hands)' - it was the second single I ever bought ... after the Kelly Family's David's Song Mr. Green

Link for others like me with no clue - if they are not completely correct, at least it's a start -

So... what do you all think about your country's selection of players?

They say the coach always takes the 11 starters, the 6 subs and his friends.

I'm confident on Mexico's starting 11 as we've got a pretty good idea who they'll be but if one of the key players gets suspended or hurt the team might fall apart.

John Barnes, footballer, pundit, presenter and....rapper extraordinaire! Laughing

Nimh, the 80's? Nice. You should get those old albums out and take some photos to post on A2K, my earliest sticker album is the '92 Premiership season, the 1st of the new top flight division. I think I'm going to go locate my world cup '94 album to laugh at the 'old school' Argentinian haircuts, man, those guys had style...

The Englishman's psyche would suffer a blow of gigantic proportions if our one and only world cup triumph was taken away from us, oh how we live off that day. In a good way of course, it's not like it's the foundation upon which our footballing arrogance is built upon.

Since I'd watch that match in England on tv (with Scots supporting the English team as well besides some English!) I think, my character and psychis changed from that moment totally.

But your European championship & world cups wins after '66 made you feel a little better right?

------------

As for the squads themselves, I honestly think on paper England's is looking pretty good. I think our manager is working with the assumption that Rooney is highly unlikely to have much of an impact while Michael Owen should be fit from the start, hopefully. The inclusion of players like Walcott and Lennon add that bit of spark and excitement in terms of the unknown and in Gerrard and Lampard we have 2 players that scored approx 45 goals from midfield this season, not too shabby. The defensive players pick themselves for England in all fairness, mentality seems to be more key for England than formations and players on paper. Just how I see it of course.

Argentina, and Brazil who were able to leave this player (video compilation of Alex de Souza) out of their squad, which really says it all, seem to have very strong squads this year will be tough to beat...I always fancy Italy when the competition is held in Europe though.

Watch out for Toni of Italy and David Villa of Spain as potential golden boot candidates, or for great striking ability if nothing else.

I just heard that the US team is rated fifth.

Who drank the fifth before making that ranking?

Hah. I thought it was 6th. Anyway, they just lost to Morocco (36th) in a friendly match, 1-0. Very good game.

I can't wait for all this to start. The football season has finished here in the UK, and I'm definitely having withdrawals.
