Yes, Argentina are playing really great. If we compare their game with the Coast, none expected such a comeback.

I am dissapointed about Serbia Confused .

Yes, half an hour to go and it's still 3 - 0.

The Argies (a plague on their houses) are playing really well, and one of their goals must go down as the best "team effort" of the tournament. The back heel kick was sublime.

I was praying that Serbia would thrash the devious little buggers, but I obviously appealed to the wrong god.

Damn!

I hate them but they really play excellent. They will go through. The big question for this group is, who else will? I'm hanging on to a thread of hope for Ivory Coast, but I really like Holland too with their style of play.

They deserve to have a good tournament... they eliminated in a really unfair way from World cup 2002.

They even have time for a 6th now that Serbia is one man down. This is quite the trouncing.

And they get the 6th and it's over. My goodness. I am definitely going to have to watch this game when I get home.

This makes Ivory Coast look good, though.

In the words of the illustrious Peter Crouch, "wowza", that was some performance from them. The 2nd goal is masterful, easily the best of the tournament and that's with the Spain game in mind too. Argentina just cemented themselves as favourites here I feel. Serbia were woeful by the end and the scoreline is a testament to that as well but the problem for Serbia was that once the 2nd goal went in, they knew two things...1) Their tournament was all but over and 2) Argentina could really open up and play their football with even more freedom.

Still with England's 1st half performance etched into my memory from yesterday, I wish Sven would sacrifice a player for the good of the team, Argentina have Messi, Tevez and Aimar on the bench so that they can play a couple of "work horses" to allow the likes of Riquelme the freedom to orchestrate the way his talent demands. Gerrard should be doing the same for England but we'll see...

Looks set to be a great tournament this one, the Spanish, Czechs and Argies in particular.

I'm not English -- I hate Argentina because I hate Maradona, and his hair. Funny how our biases extend themselves.

My, my. I didnt expect that result. Those serbians did look unmotivated. Heard they had plenty of problems in the showers - hehe - AND their country has split in two... again.

Mexico should qualify without too many problems in a short while, I definitely prefer Neatherlands than Argentina in the next round.

Tiebreakers huh? If Sweden and TT tie in points and have the same goal difference, I can only think of 2 options. Most goals scored or how they fared one against the other. Although... they did tied 0-0 so I guess its the former.

And why we hate argentinians? They are soooo egocentric. I personally dislike them from Copa Libertadores. Boca Juniors has such an attitude...

I have biases in football just like anyone else but if the bias stops me from acknowledging quality football then it's over the top, that's how I see it anyway (England have had a rivalry with Argentina for many years now on the football field only rivalled itself by Germany). Also, I think el_pohl is right, goals scored then head to head, after that I couldn't say for sure.

Oh I'm freely acknowledging that Argentina plays quality ball and will probably leave their group undefeated and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them in the semi-finals. They are quite good. I just can't cheer for them.

"Ar-gen-ti-na! Amé-ri-ca-La-ti-na!"

Nah! Not really!
I was hoping they'd be eliminated on the first round, but Ivory Coast failed me.
From Serbia my highest hope was a draw, but it seems they have yet another civil war inside the team.

Why not Argentina?
Not because of the Malvinas-Falklands. Evil on both sides, back then.
But because so many Argentinians have made an art out of deceit. In many walks of life. Football among them.
Too bad for the majority of Argentinians. Just people pay for sinners.

They do kind of have a reputation for trickery and shiftiness and playing dirty. I don't know if that is deserved or not, just, it's there.
