I always remember 1966, when I watched that - he may roast in hell, that Rusisan linesman - match together with some Scots and English: for just a couple of minutes the Scottish remembered what was written on their passports, 85 minutes they were supporting me.

Yeah, but "we" scored another one later

The Scots are getting a very bad press, here....most of us support England, really, when the Scots are not playing. All the rest is just a wind-up.

By the way, English fans managed their own riots in Liverpool, Manchester and Canary Wharf, London, at the outdoor TV screens. We don't need foreigners to have a punch-up, we can do that among ourselves just as easily.
So, the screens are being switched off. Eng-er-lund!

Yes, I saw that, McT, it's a combination of too much sun and cheap beer, methinks.
Isn't it a shame that a tiny minority (as indicated in the reports) go and ruin it for everyone else.

Nah, that was not because Poland was the underdog ... it was cause they played Germany Twisted Evil

Did you see the goals in Tunisia v Saudi Arabia? Was the rest of the game that good?

My favorite part was when the Saudi's got down on their knees in a circle and told the Tunisian fans to kiss their heiny
I actually thought they were praying, but were not sure about the direction of Mecca.

......."All of which chimes with a recent survey which claimed that two-thirds of Scots have no intention of cheering for England in the World Cup, despite Gordon Brown's attempts to curry UK unity by voicing his support for Beckham and co.
It appears the majority, some of whom have snapped up T-shirts bearing the slogan: "I support 2 teams Scotland and anybody playing England' would rather follow the example of Jack McConnell, Scotland's First Minister.
When asked last month whether he would be supporting England, Mr McConnell said: "No, I will not. Scotland is not there and that's disappointing. And there are people who think that, as First Minister, I should automatically support England instead. But football is not about politics, so I will not be........................"

I always scratch my head when I see and hear this sort of stuff going on with some (well, it would seem the majority) of the Scots. There is always a bit of banter going on between rival teams/countries etc. when it comes to sports, but IMO the Scots really do themselves no favours when they act in this way.
I don't know about the other Brits on this thread, but when Scotland are ever involved in major football tournaments (rare, I know...but bear with me) I really get behind them and cheer the place down when they score a goal....unless they are playing England, of course.
Personally, I absolutely love it when ANY country from Great Britain do well in sports tournaments.

Oh well.............maybe it's sour grapes or something. I'm still mystified (and a tad saddened) though.
I think its very very funny that the Scots dont support England...and reflects on them perfectly. I had a good laugh over this bit

Quote:
Hamish Husband, spokesman for the Association of Tartan Army Clubs, tried to explain that anti-English sentiment shouldn't be taken personally. " It's all done with good humour," he said. "Fans whose country is not in the World Cup always choose an underdog."

The Commission for Racial Equality is not laughing, and neither is the tourism industry, as both have warned that anti-English sentiment could result in a drop in visitors, damage to the economy and even suspension for school pupils...

There was a sighting of an England flag flying from a car in Glasgow. Both were on fire though.

Latest from Nuremberg, via the BBC......

"1207 BST: The city's main square, Hauptmarkt, is teeming with English fans who well outnumber the Trinidad and Tobago supporters. The singing has yet to start but the Caribbean steel band is interrupted by the occasional horn. The two sets of fans are mixing amicably and spirits are high - even for Liam Fox. The 27-year-old from Leeds revealed: "I was supposed to be getting married today, but I was dumped. I was distraught but I am looking forward to the game."

I think I'll be supporting TNT. I'm sick of all those gross overweight foul mouthed drunken flag waving xenophobes who call them selves English.

we will still go through if we loose to Trinidad and Toboggan then thrash Sven's compatriots.

I heard there are quite a few Scots in Nuremberg today, wearing Scotland colours, and supporting T & T. Laughing

They look good to me a gain. Their defense is still strong, they're maintaining posession, and they're attacking every ball. England might win, but then again, they might not. I'm pulling for T&T and I predict another exciting game.

(I think, someone should tell Mrs B. that the action is where the ball is?)

Good match, so far, though no Roony ... yet.

Our commentators suck ass. Yorke got it in the nuts. He's rolling on the ground with his hand in his pants holding his tackle, and our commentator says "looks like he got hit in the lower stomach, that's a bad place to get hit". Are they not allowed to say nuts on tv?

The dreaded Sven strikes again. Always the same old tired tactic....lump it long range into the box and let Owen and Crouch get swamped by defenders.

Take them both off, put Walcott and Rooney in their place and let's see some fireworks, for god's sake!

BOR-ING!!
