I wouldn't mind a thread that did delineate what various people like to be called when discussed as a group, a questionable endeavor in itself but appropriate sometimes - with the so-called various people doing the listing.

Lol! It is (in Australia) an affectionate way of saying someone is being an idiot.

I am saying, in response to Intrepid's question, that the thread continues because we (including Intrepid in asking the question) keep posting on it.

It is a paradox to be asking why something unpleasant continues when one is assisting it to do so.

I was laughing at Intrepid and myself.

Because people keep making sweeping statements such as your middle thought. Your assumption that someone who gets worked up over the use of the word Negro would also loot is insulting. This is right up there with the idea of people not being influenced by their surroundings, culture, or upbringing. These things are exactly why we need to keep this discussion going. Prejudice and bigotry are not limited to overt acts of aggression. There are also witnessed in our everyday thoughts and statements.

I think that calling people "rag-heads" or "towel-heads" is an ignorant and disgusting practice. For one thing, the head-coverings which some Middle Eastern people wear are neither "rags" nor "towels." The cloth would more appropriately be described as little folded up sheets. So, henceforth, I shall call them "little sheet-heads." We must be pc, by all means.

I was merely wondering why Lash made those particular comments as I did not understand them. I don't like bigotry, racism, prejudice or anything associated with it. I didn't understand why Lash thought it was ok for friends to laugh at the word negro and what Lash was referring to regarding the same people who loot etc.

That "sweeping" statement was Lash's....not mine.
