Email from one of my best friends ... a proud Texan:

With 2% of precincts reporting .....

FOR 74%
AGAINST 26%

The night is young.

This is a stunning defeat for the forces that would liberalize the marriage laws but no surprise. The Texas vote only mirrors what has been done before in many states.

Perhaps these referendums present what is meant by the allusion to "activist" judges who overrule the will of the people.

"Stunning?" It is hardly a surprising development. Merely disappointing, disgusting, and disturbing.

Good for the people of Texas in showing they they still believe in the good traditions and will not fall for the "liberalization" of everything the majority holds dear.

To the losers....you had your chance and you lost...BIG TIME.

This is pushing the tide back with a spoon. A rear-guard (ha!) action that's doomed to failure, just like the Jim Crow laws last century.

This only confirms that most Texans are backward-thinking, homophobic assholes. Nothing new here.

Certainly, freedom will ring one day for all God's children. But this struggle will not be won overnight.

Let's hope the US doesn't scare off the gays the same way Germany scared off the Jews prior to WWII.

I suppose the Texans feel that they have the right to establish laws of their State regardless of what an extremely small minority of idiots think.

Harper, aka Chrissee, aka Twin isn't much concerned about the will of the people as evidenced in his/her above post.

Harper/Chrissee/Twin also predicted a Kerry landslide victory and now predicts a similar result for Democrats in '06. Have to wonder what username will turn up, say around 11/15/06.

Idiots who believe in liberty and justice for all. LOL

woiyo claims to be native American. I have never known a homophobic Native American. I guess the exception proves the rule.

I just don't understand this whole battle anyway. Why do straight couples even care? I know some pretty freaky straights that have managed to screw up their marriages without the help of those darn gays.

Still fixated I see. The accusations are false. I borrowed chrissee's avatar, I don't know who this Harper character is.

You are a hypocrite and fit the profile I defined above.

You have no idea as to my position on homosexuality, yet as the profile outlined above, you come to a ill-informed conclusion.

You, and those who think like you, are not concerned about liberty and justice for all, only for those who share your same twisted views.

You have already stated in another post that you support the SF ban on handguns.

I am licensed to carry in my State, yet, you do not support my right to carry.

You are so transparent, it is laughable.
