@Pookie53,
Bad things happened because two people made a human mistake, and it was justified to penalize all of humanity?

Where did you learn logic?

@fresco,
You are right, I haven't read the whold 95 pages of blogs, I am a newcomer here and I guess I don't really know why you are a participant. But I do think that God puts people together for a reason. So sue me.
Can we agree that it is almost always a Muslim extremist that perpetrates the nasty things you mention? With the implicit approval of many other so called peaceful Muslims who aren't exactly filling up the airwaves with their condemnation of their fellow extremists?
I don't say religion is good . I say Jesus Christ is. I, like you, abhor the horrible things that people do in the name of 'religion' How could I not? It is sickening what people will do in the name of whatever. Do I need to mention the horrible genocides that many athiest leaders have perpetrated on their own people? Let's just not go there......
Please explain what you mean by 'soft drug pusher' and I will try and answer
thanks

@cicerone imposter,
No it's an encounter with the living word of God. That's how people come to Christ. Either that or they have a true Damascus road encounter like Saul did.

@fresco,

That's a good example convoluted logic! Some of us are here because we are worried about "believers" who do nasty things like fly planes into buildings, and even moderate believers may be responsible for such acts by association, by giving succour to a climate of irrationality. Can you handle the accusation of being a "soft drug pusher" or are you going to treat such a comment as a "test of your faith" in which you must "do battle with Satan"? That is what your "logic" would suggest.

This point fresco??

It's a silly point. It even starts with a typo which shows lack of respect for A2Kers.

Your ridiculous notion that religion, or a belief in God, caused 9/11 doesn't deserve an answer. It's baby talk. Milkers on the udders of human kindness of that magnitude have no place in a debate on these matters. You'll be wringing your hands next. You run the risk of being accused of using the victims of 9/11 to push out a boat of your own. Possibly associated with our religion disapproving of certain things you might wish to do.

The Chechens will tell you that wreaking destruction on people indiscriminatingly is just as possible when atheists are running things. And as official policy. Osama & Co are unofficial.

I think you are here to amuse yourself in the lacunas in your life. As I am. As we all are. The pub with no beer. And I don't think you are worried either. If you are you are one of a small minority.

Maybe Pookie hasn't answered because there was no point to answer. I was just explaining why that might be in case you don't know.

Your logic suggests that Satan is your leader.

@Francis,
This whole forum is a debate where athiests like yourself are trying to outsmart believers like me who are trying to outsmart athiests like you.. Just kidding....
Smile But seriously, I'm just happy that you are interested enough to debate. Indifference is the MOST horrible thing.

@Pookie53,
The "muslim" angle is irrelevant to the fact that the "drug" called "afterlife" is being pushed by all theists. Some Muslims just tend to be this century's deranged addicts. (Marx: Religion is the opium of the masses). And so called "atheist regimes" are no different from "theist regimes" in that they substitute a dogmatic theocracy with a dogmatic autocracy which also over-rides freedom of individual thought. Both claim a solution to "the point of life" and it is in the arrogance of that claim where the danger lies in the deflation of value of this individual life.

@fresco,
I see organized religion as one of the best business on earth; they don't have any overhead to think of, but even in poor countries, they have invested the greatest amount of resource into them. Even in India where the majority are poor, I have seen a temple with a gold dome. That's true in almost every country of the world. Religion sells; the demand is so great, they can accumulate wealth most people are unaware of. Even the Mormon Church owns commercial enterprises that most are not aware of.

This link shows a "short" list of what the Mormon Church owns:

@cicerone imposter,
The net worth of the Catholic Church in the USA alone is more than the five richest corporations combined. Worldwide, the assets are uncountable.

"Blessed are the poor for they shall inherit the earth". (what's left of it Wink )

The Pope is not as fat as a lot of Americans I have seen. What does "live very well" mean? Soft beds, pots of ale, no work and voluptuous women is living very well. According to Don Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.

@spendius,
But Popes have to swear off women. It's not natural to not love another human on this planet. All gods are invisible.
