how untruthful, dys. You lead a rich, fulfilling life and you're loved by a wonderful human being. There's a lot of point to your life

@existential potential,
He does....He called me and I was an athiest. And I would bet that he has called you also. Otherwise you wouldn't be so interested in this blog. Whether you choose to seek Him with an open mind is up to you. He gave us all free will because He didn't want a bunch of robot people loving Him because then HAD to.

@cicerone imposter,
You can't possibly know that.
I do not know what He looks like. When I get to heaven then maybe I will know that. I didn't say I had a discussion, I said I had an encounter. The encounter was through His word, the Bible. He said
" Rise up O sleeper rise from the dead
and Christ will shine on you"
I tried to read the bible many times when I was still an atheist, it made no sense to me. God deliberatly put me in a place where I would hear the word once a week for an hour and slowly, over months, I started to understand.
"everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
If you never seek Him you probably won't find Him.

@panzade,
You are so right, a person can never argue someone into believing in God. Or argue them into not believing.

@Francis,
My grasp of life improved dramatically since my encounter with God.
I am the same but different in so many ways, My worldview almost opposite from what it was, My goals and reason for living totally different that before.
My encounter was not the space alien type..... I did not have a "damascus road"
experience. Just the quiet noticing of something and then the unfolding of it.
Obviously I'm having some trouble describing it.

@JLNobody,
Jesus was either a lunatic, a liar, or who He said He was, God.
I am stealing from CS Lewis of course. (mere Christianity)
Jesus claimed to be God many times in the gospels. If you are interested I will look up the references for you.....I would be very glad to do that.
So if you think that a person who claims to be God can be a good teacher without actually being God, I think you are mistaken. People were just as skeptical then as they are now. If I went around claiming to be God, they would put me away in the funny farm and no-one would ever hear a word I said.
Instead the bible has come to us through the centuries, defended to the death by thousands and thousands of believers.
Jesus didn't come to redeem us from the transgression of mythical anscestors but from the penalty of our own sin.

@dyslexia,
Your life is not pointless..... God says you are 'fearfully and wonderfuly made"
and he has a "purpose for your life".
The future is very scary when seen through the eyes of a person who knows no God.
The life that I lead with God is the most fulfilling wonderful incredible journey I have ever experienced. It has taken me where I would never have gone as an athiest. It's also kept me from going places that would have brought me intolerable sorrow.

@Pookie53,
If god has a purpose for every life on this planet, why does he let babies born with birth defects likes HIV/AIDS, mongoloid, heart disease, starvation, homeless, parentless, etc.

What's the lesson here god is trying to teach?

@Pookie53,
Thing is, when you write crap like this, you have lost all credibility:

@Francis,
As a matter of fact, mine without god is fantastic (compared to by siblings who are all christians). They plan their lives to go to heaven that doesn't exist. I live on this planet as if today's the last day of my life.

They pray to a god that doesn't answer prayers; this has been proven through research with one exception.

Why do military men and women pray to their god to be successful in war?

Why do athletes pray to win a sports game?

Doesn't make any common sense.

That's a good example convoluted logic! Some of us are here because we are worried about "believers" who do nasty things like fly planes into buildings, and even moderate believers may be responsible for such acts by association, by giving succour to a climate of irrationality. Can you handle the accusation of being a "soft drug pusher" or are you going to treat such a comment as a "test of your faith" in which you must "do battle with Satan"? That is what your "logic" would suggest.

@Pookie53,
Pookie, That's not an "encounter." That was you reading words on a page. How you respond to words on a page is not considered an encounter. It's an emotional response.

@cicerone imposter,
That's a very good question that has been asked by every athiest ever. The only time that nothing bad ever happened to people was in Eden. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the ONE thing He asked them not to do, that is when sin entered the world. Since then very bad things have been happening. Still God uses every terrible thing that does happen to His own good use. I am not God, so I can't possibly answer your question to your satisfaction but, I believe that a child born homeless or parentless is a blessing to an adoptive family. I believe that a mongoloid child is a blessing to all that know him/her. That all the people who have much through Christ are supposed to help and serve all those who have little. That people who suffer are the thing that helps the people who have much to stop focusing on themselves and focus on God and other people. That no matter what we suffer here on earth it is nothing compared to the wonder and beauty of heaven. If you have been told that heaven is a cloud on which you play a harp I have news for you. You definately WANT to go there.

Religious people are always trying to outsmart other people.

Are there any new news that I should be aware of?

@cicerone imposter,
YOU say it doesn't exist. Thankfully that does not make it so.
I also live as if today was the last day of my life. My friends and family die around me, I know my day will come too. But the difference is that when I go to heaven and God asks me "What have you done with my Son Jesus Christ?" I want to be able to say. I did everything I could to do what Christ said to do.
" Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation" and
"whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
The brothers of mine being the hungry, the thirsty, those in prison etc"

I cannot speak for other Christians and so-called Christians who don't read the bible and know what Christ wants for them.

And I don't know the answers to your last two questions but I will try and find the answers and get back to you. I have never been a military person or an athelete. I've only been a Christian for 7 years and I'm still learning.
