Reyn, I have seen some of osso's work--she is a gifted painter. Some of her work had been displayed in the a2k art/picture gallery.

Yes, I mean that people seem to be taught that art is to draw the perfect telephone or tree. That is useful but is not exclusionary.

I have no idea who enya is.

hehe, That makes us even then. Laughing

Art surely is in the eye of the beholder.

Some seem to be able to draw and paint with such ease. I admit I envy them.

Well, I am not the most artistic person walking, and I'm aware of it, am not stopped by that, interested for my own amusement. Rather like reyn is with his efforts.

Some artists were naturally swift with hand eye coordination and discernment, but not all, at all.
Really, it is just an area of interest, rewarding or not. Attraction and interest is the main thing, me thinks.

As compared to music...
I have a friend or two with perfect pitch and mathematical brains. I am the embodiment of the opposite of that. I like and love music as a friendly visitor.

My mother used to tell me, I can't draw a straight line. If she told me that once, she told me that a couple of hundred times. Drawing a straight line is not necessary for doing art, but I didn't know that to respond to her comments.

Some seem to have a natural gift when it comes to art. How about you?

Ah, she's being modest then.

One of these days, I'll get back to doing montages, but with all my own material.

Well, one has to have interests somewhere. It might as well be that.

Friendly visitor. I like that phrase. Smile

My hand eye coordination is as nothing compared to an old boss of mine who could draw plans as sketches and they'd work out as to scale. I could practice that for a hundred years and not get close to his natural not even looking drawing.

But, that isn't all of art, art is more interesting that that. It has to do with positing ideas, positioning colors or shapes, contrasting textures, making things appear and disappear. Much more playful and much more thoughtful than trying to perfectly render what is in front of your face.
And, all are invited. You don't have to draw a straight line, as my mother would have said, to enjoy doing art.

Me, I'm medium at it.

I left out the realm of inventiveness, subsuming it under the word 'play'. Play is perhaps the most important aspect of art... to me.

Do you paint professionally at all? Not that it's important. Just wondering if you have works displayed /sold at all.

Making a web site to display your works of art. Now that sounds like a nice project.

Anyways, good for you. You must be tickled pink.

Hello, Reyn! I'm very late. Just discovered this revealing thread! Very Happy

So ... Are you still talking or have you closed up shop?

Howdy, Ms. Olga! Glad you found me!

Reyn's is open all hours. It's just that I might not be here. Any subjects are spoken about here, not just stuff about me......

....By the way, did you catch the sad cat story that I posted in "Pets"?

See you around....

Oh good!!! Very Happy

I'm not to late then!

One of the things I really, really like about you, Reyn, is your compassion for animals Very Happy ... particularly of the feline variety!
Nice to think of you going about your job, while rescuing the odd trapped cat or 3 as you go!

I will return with questions about other things. Very Happy

I like listening to NPR while in the car, I get alot of ideas for A2K on there too.

As I've mentioned a few times before, music doesn't really do a thing for me, prefering quiet.

However, I realized there IS one type of music I like.......Motown.

I like Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and so many others I don't even know the names of.

I think because those songs get the message across directly, and don't beat around the bush.

Hmmm, I'll have to think more on this and google the lyrics I can recall, in order to get the names of the songs and the artists.

Here in Austin they are doing (or did) a prototype at one of the Starbucks where you could burn your own CD with all the songs of your choosing.

I thought this was really great, for less than $20.00 I made one of songs to exercise to, starting off with a couple of slow ones, then speeding up, leveling off and finally cooling down.

Since as a rule any CD I've ever heard has maybe 1 or 2 I'm ok with, and the rest drive me nuts or bore me, it was great to bypass all that.

I don't think they had much, if any Motown though, I'll have to go back to look.

I see some very sad things sometimes, but I can't rescue everybody.

Two more examples from some time ago:

A kitten was on a customer's property and they had pointed it out to me. I made a side trip to the local animal shelter and gave them the details.

I told my wife about it and we actually we're going to adopt this cute little black and white guy. Unfortunately, it was sick with distemper and had to be put down. We were very sad.

Another time, I was driving in the rural area, just a block north of the U.S. border and "something was wandering back and forth across the road. Upon closer examination, it was a cat in a bad way with with all sorts of bush in its matted fur. It was quite the site. Obviously feral for a while, and possibly hit by a car.

I couldn't just leave it there wandering around. So, I had a large container in the car which held various things, emptied it, and put the cat in there to take to the shelter. It didn't resist. It looked weak. Took him down and they took care of the cat. Not sure whatever became of him, but it was better off than being on the road. Crying or Very sad

I look forward to you returning...... Very Happy

Yes, I also listen to Motown from time to time. I consider it classical type rock. Really gets your feet moving!

That's a great idea about burning your own CD with the tunes you want in one package.

Chai, did you catch my response to your concern about your name not being on that site?
