Dys knows a vast amount about music, he's just quiet.

Depends on your experience. Some "new" music is atonal, that is, new re classical, and that is now rather old hat (or is it?)

Having od'd on rock, I've been listening to classical and world music recently. Have some love of some jazz, in particular latin jazz.

You might understand my posts on this better if you understand that I understand I am a music ignoramus. Still, I've had much joy from music.

i forget, you are not in america.

All shows on this station are pretty good. Except the Randy Rhodes woman. She is a screamer who never pauses to listen to her guests..

Eh, too, Brutus? Laughing I just listen to what seems good to me. I don't know much about anything past the 70s name-wise.

What is "world music"? Anything like "new age"?

Like I mentioned previously, I don't spend much time listening to any kind of music. Mostly news and talk.

Ah, I see says the blind man.

Actually, the main station I listen to is a local one called CKNW (980 AM).

I post a lot of news from their web site here.

No, not generally new age, but just opening up what all of us listen to to music from many countries, not just the top 100.
Thus, KCRW in santa monica (I'm sure playlists are way available, especially re the guy who followed Chris Doridas..I just forget his name)

I've heard some new age stuff. It's okay.

You mentioned that you like blues. Anything in particular?

I love just about any music...but heavy metal is not as close to my heart as it used to be

So Reyn, did you ever take up playing a musical instrument?

Yup, I was the Carlos Santana of the clarinet. Laughing

Not really, but I did play a couple of years in school.

You know what I always fancied was being able to be a decent artist. Drawing and sketching appealed to me, but I absolutely suck at it. I get frusterated and I give up.

I think that's why I like photography and photo editing. There's no hand-eye coordination needed.

I can control my hand and eye together form mere seconds at a time and I still love to paint. Photoreproduction with your own hand isn't what art is about, though people usually think so.

The clarinet was one of the first I played too. I had no other choice, it was needed in the concert band, and no one else wanted to play it. Laughing

What I remember most is that the reeds were expensive, cracked easily, and didn't last through very many uses.

Photo reproduction? Do you mean painting something to look like a photo?

I know photo editing isn't art, but it's a heck of a lot of fun.

Didn't you just love it when you produced a nice "squeak /squawk" in front of an audience during a concert....hehe! Embarrassed

My sister plays a mean flute. Quite talented.

Yes, I mean that people seem to be taught that art is to draw the perfect telephone or tree. That is useful but is not exclusionary.

I have no idea who enya is.

My mother used to tell me, I can't draw a straight line. If she told me that once, she told me that a couple of hundred times. Drawing a straight line is not necessary for doing art, but I didn't know that to respond to her comments.
