A great cat story Reyn...I would have done the same thing!
Thanks. I couldn't leave him there. Looked a little like one of our cats.
Coffee, tea, or....
I listen to a wide variety of music, mostly pre mid 70s. My favorite recording artists are, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Leadbelly, Harry Belafonte, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Jerry Lee Lewis, Phil Ochs, Don Gibson, Marty Robbins, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Clyde McPhatter, Jackie Wilson - and many more.
Don't care for ballet myself.
Classical music is very nice, but I don't spend time listening.
Very nice of you to free the cat, reyn! A man after me own heart! Do you have pets? Do share any fun pet stories you might have! I personally have two cats and two house rabbits. All four animals share the run of the house and I have lots of fun watching them all interact, each with his or her own unique personality. The landlords do not enjoy them as much as I do.
Hey Reyn,
I tried that ancestory site, it appears my family never existed.
oh well,
Yes, I can't imagine leaving an animal trapped in a cage.
All cats I've had stay indoors where they're safe.
A couple years ago, my neighbors cat, the cutest little thing, drank some anti-freeze and died. My neighbor doesn't keep any stuff like that around, and I always wondered if it was some sadist.
I still think of her bouncing across my front lawn.

If you're interested in doing family searches, here is a good place to start:
FamilySearch.org
That site is run by the Mormans. Also, depending on what your local Morman Church records have, that is also good. What they don't have, they'll order for you (at a nominal cost). You don't have to be a Mormon to access them. It's open to all.
Funny what you say about surnames. I can relate. Mine is 6 letters long, but many insist on pronouncing the 'g' softly, instead of the hard 'g' it really is. If it's not that, it's every other variation....haha!
If you need anymore genealogy advice, my wife knows lots.
just got the Mrs family name back to 1730 in Germany (lucky me)

Here's an interesting question, Edgar:
Do you feel that when as we get "older", we tend to listen to music from our youth, because we're comfortable and familar with it? Almost like in a time warp.
I'm much that way, although, to my credit, I do listen now to some times of jazz which I would never have given the time of day to when I was younger.

My wife and I have 2 black and white cats. A male and female. Also, we have 2 cockatiels.
I'll come back later with some stories.
Chai Tea wrote:Hey Reyn,

Chai, not at all! That site, and similar ones, are run by volunteers.
For example, the Mormans will go into a country and gradually transcribe info from records onto the site. This takes a lot of time. So, the info on the site is not complete by any means, especially for some countries.

It was the right thing to do.
Our cats are indoor ones as well. In this day and age, living in a city, you can't have them wandering around.

Hey, that's great!
It's harder to research some countries than others, too.
My wife's family all comes from England. Lots of records available.
Chai, in addition to what I wrote just above, you could also try do a Google search for Polish genealogical records and see what you come up with.
Reyn
I have tried to listen to new music, but it doesn't do anything for me.
Reyn why, do you think, The Moody Blues turned into elevator music?
But didn't we all hate elevator music?
I admit to having undergone a surfeit of loud oldies one year, 1993 to be exact, that had the effect of my not being able to listen to them until just about now, and I still have low tolerance. Yes, I am still interested in more obscure blues, whatever, but the top one hundred is my idea of hell.
Apparently my 147th 19th nervous breakdown broke the connection.

You and me both, bro! I absolutely hate that vile rap crap, for example.
To be honest though, these days I don't spend a lot of time listening to music.
I find listening to music when I'm on the internet slightly distracting, too.

Hmmm, I don't think their music is that. I quite enjoy it. It's relaxing. I haven't listened to them recently though.
Different tastes for different folks.
What kind of music do you like, Dys?
I play CDs while driving to and fro, but don't listen that much anywhere else these days. My fragmented life - A life of sound bites.

Myself, I'll still listen to occasional raunchy classical rock tune. It does get the toes tapping, but these days, I listen to a lot more jazzy type music.
A change is as good as a rest I guess.

Funny you should say that.
We have a CD player at home, but these days I never touch it. My wife likes it though.
I spend a lot of time in our computer room where I have a radio. Don't turn it on too much.
I listen mainly to talk shows in the car. I get ideas for A2K topics from them.
