And a howdy to you. Still so stinkin' hot down there?

I was hot enough today, that I almost requested permission to go home at mid day. But, ended sticking it out.

Reyn, there ought to be an alternative to a rubber sheet for Viv. I'd have a reaction to that, Canada, and I ain't even recovering from surgery.

We haven't had any usable rain in far too long. I've been watering the garden with what I collect from the dehumidifier. We NEED rain!

My friend the Empress had 'scope surgery about 3 months ago. She thought since the 'outside' scar was so little that it'd be an easy-peasy recovery. The surgeon and doc had to remind her that it was a long internal scar that was healing. Better in a lot of ways, but still a fair bit of healing to get done.

Well, we'd be happy to send you some rain your way. We've had a fair bit lately. So, lots to spare!

The thing is with Vivienne's op is that there is quite a large piece of surgical mesh (or something similar) that's been sewn in place. So, lots of internal healing going on, and I'm sure the tugging and pulling sensations she's been getting are due to that. She's a brave one!

Thank you for the good wishes Set!

Sounds pretty yucky to me. I never liked it here when we got our searing temps in the summer (mostly in August). I look back now and wonder how I got through the hot dog days!

Yes, I agree. I suspect that hospital staff use these little blankets in case the patients make a mess of some kind.

Vivienne now has her date for the day surgery on her right knee. It's Oct 29. This is to cut the tear in the miniscus and to remove a floating bone chip. So, I assume she will be put under again for about 20 minutes.

I'll have to make sure she's put on something else than those stupid sheets in recovery. Otherwise, we'll start all over again with the rash. As it is, I'm still using cream once a day to fix it up. We saw the skin doc yesterday, and it's all coming along, but the applications have to be kept up at least another couple of weeks.

Hey, thanks all for dropping by, giving best wishes, and enquiring about this. Nice to know I'm not alone. Very Happy

hi reyn !
real bummer with vivienne's bedsores !
surely the op-nurses should be able to put some throw-away sheets - even if it's soft paper sheets - between the rubber-sheet and the patient .
we usually don't like to complain to medical staff but it seems that you'll have to let someone know that that is NOT acceptable .
sure wish both of you the VERY BEST !!!
finally did get some rain and things are greening up quickly here .
temps are still holding around 20 C Very Happy .
take care !

Not really bedsores, but a rash (contact dermititus, or something like that).

I'm going to make good and sure that for Vivienne's knee next month that it doesn't happen again!

Rain again today and temp here is currently holding at 13 C.

Catcha later....

Perhaps Vivienne has a latex allergy?

In any case, it might be worth a trip to pick up an inexpensive flat cotton sheet you can wash beforehand, bring along to the hospital - and toss when you're bringing Vivienne home.

This is a possibility, I suppose, depending what the material was made of.

This blanket that was underneath her was just small, not the size of a bed sheet. It was on top of the regular sheet, and had fleece on the upper side of it. When I take Vivienne to the hospital on Oct 29 for her right knee, I'll try and find out what the underside of that blanket was made of.

In a couple of weeks, we go back to the skin doc, and he'll be doing allergy patch tests for rubber, etc. So, we will find out what's what.

Yowzers! It was 2 degrees Celsius here last night. That's 35.6 degree Fahrenheit for our American friends.

Foggy as heck here this morning.

I've been quiet about my wife's recuperation lately, as there has been a lot of "wait and see", etc, with the aftermath of the abdominal hernia repair that she had last month.

Well, today we had a follow-up appointment with the surgeon, and it seems fairly likely that one corner of the repair (the surgical mesh) is failing. This means (depending on how the recovering pain level goes) that further surgery will be necessary, possibly "soon", or in about 6 months to a year from now. Like I said, alot of wait and see.

We seen him again in a month, and he will determine as to whether a CT scan will be arranged to check up on the suspect area.

There were no guarantees (of course) given as to how well the repair was going to go, but I guess it's human nature to hope all will go well. Otherwise, one wouldn't get up in the morning.

We're both feeling rather depressed today. I know how much pain my wife went through with this last operation, and to think there's high probability that she'll need to endure more.

On the "bright side" (note: sarcasm), there's the breast follow-up ultrasound to look forward to on the 22nd, and then the knee op on the 29th. Crying or Very sad

We keep hoping for better times. They're coming, right? Right?

That's because the guy in front of you bought the winning ticket. You should not hesitate, in future.
