I-we- have been wondering how you and your lady have been doing. Thanks for the update. What can I say? Take it one day at a time. Good fortune to yall..

Hi, and thanks for posting.

Yes, it does come down to taking one day at a time. If you look at the big picture, one can't handle it, at least I couldn't.

We still have lots of trust and faith in the surgeon, though. You could see on his face that he doesn't like his "work" not going right.

Hey ReynMan - sorry to hear that there have been delays and annoyances in Vivienne's recovery.

I am glad you popped by with an update. It's always so awkward asking.

Hi, Kris. Nice to see you. Hope all is well with you.

We've done a lot of waiting. It does you in.

I'm just hoping against hopes that the 22nd works out okay for Vivienne. she really doesn't need one more bit of ****. Mad

Hey, how's Ontario doing? You vote the Liberals in? Laughing

Yeah, I didn't want to stampeed all over my tongue and say everything was great.

Vivienne has made good progress in many things post-op, but it's the one area that we've been dreading. It was taking longer than the rest for the pain to go away.

What is suspected is that possibly (I say that cautiously) part of the mesh has given way and part of an organ is poking through (or something like that), causing discomfort.

So (speculation), she'll probably need to be opened up again to further repair that little area. I did mention at the time that the doctor should have put a zipper in instead of sewing her up. Laughing

Hi TC. Thanks for showing up and sending best wishes. It's really appreciated.

Finally, the rash is clearing up. Right now, she's been going through allergy patch testing for rubber compunds, but so far seems negative.

Beaming best wishes from one Lower Mainlander to another!

On a somewhat different note I am none too pleased as to what Canada has done to the Lower Mainland in terms of massive immigration and building construction.

I cannot even get to the local store anymore without having to deal with traffic lights at every intersection, tons of condo units being built where once there was forest, ongoing deserts of strip malls, car exhaust fumes fouling the air, excessive traffic noise and decimation of local natural habitats.

Hi chumly! I hear you on that note. Out here in Abby we're going through those growing phases, too. I'm none too pleased that there are 2 high rises complexes going up that are way too high. One will be 25 stories and the other 28. The traffic congestion will be ridiculous when they come online. Plus, we have our new hospital opening up here on the same street next summer to boot!

Come on over to the Island, boys... it's less congested (they don't have a rush hour in Duncan - heh heh), cheaper to buy a house, and much more peaceful and calm.

Come on over and I'll tour you 'round... when I buy my house, you can bunk in with me Smile

hi , reyn !
very sorry to hear that vivienne's recovery isn't coming along any better !
so it looks as if another operation will be necessary , i gather .
will the same surgeon be performing the follow-up operation ?
while i have not had a hernia operation (keeping fingers crossed !) , a fair number of friends have had it done .
i understand that it is quite important to have a surgeon who has made a "specialty" of it - the more operations performed , the higher the success rate .
some of our local surgeons are rather unhappy because quite a few patients don't have their hernia operation done locally (we do have a university teaching hospital , so it's got a good reputation) , but instead travel to the shouldice clinic in toronto . HERNIA OPERATIONS are all they are doing , and their success rate is quite outstanding .

as an aside : mrs h had to have a cataract surgery done . she saw the chief of the eye surgery unit (who had done some surgery for her previously) . since he only operates two mornings a week - the other work is teaching here and in toronto - , he sugested that one of his assistants perform the surgery . he assured mrs. h that he had trained them and that she would be looked after well and fairly quickly .
she told him that she would be willing to wait for him to perform the operation . she had to wait six months for him . the operation was a success and both mrs. h and the surgeon were extremely happy with the outcome . (when i came to pick her up , he came over smiling and shook my hand . he seemed to be proud indeed about the work he had performed . ) as a BONUS he did her other eye four weeks later - without a long wait . she now can read without glasses and i need bifocals - no fair !

wishing you and vivienne the very best !!!
hbg

btw. it's still warm here , around 12 to 20 C daytime . we have had some rain and everything has finally started to green up again.

Reyn, I already moved, and what ferry rides? Why would I go back to the Mainland?

Nope.

It's gorgeous here, much like where you live, lots of farmland and livestock - I love it!

Hi H. Yes, the same fellow will be going back in (should it become necessary). I'm grateful because he'll know exactly what's what. we think he's a good bloke. Before he did the op, he did carefully explain that stuff like this can happen, so I'm not totally shocked. It's just too bad.

Well, Reyn had his annual cancer check-up today. All the usual touchy-feely stuff, blood tests, and chest x-rays, etc.

I feel confident that all will be well and I won't get any negative feedback.

It's been 12 years now.

12 years is a good sign, in itself.

Yes, it is, but crap can happen. It is possible to be "cured", but it is also possible to get another form of cancer, too.

Let us hope it is the former.
