I've never been in one, but I can well imagine. Did you work on an oil rig?

I spent three weeks on an oil rig. Just didn't want to go back.

That sounds like some of my early efforts at work back in the '70s, only some didn't last more than a few hours. Laughing

I didn't have a career, just fell into my present job. It's the only one I kept more than a year. It has lasted 13.

I worked for a few years as a radio d.j/concert production/news writer/political speech writer and then decided I didn't like the idea of work so I went to "work" for the government where I remained until I retired.

Ah, you, too, Dys!

I became a meter reader way back in August of 1974. Our provincial utilities company was /is BC Hydro here. Basically, it's a crown corporation (publically owned).

I fell into that job, as I was encouraged to apply by a family member suggesting it. At that time, I had no problem getting the job, and it paid real decent as well.

The only thing was that I didn't have a driver's license yet. Yup, it wasn't until I was 24 that I got one.

I did that until 1981, where upon I did some inventory work in the same companies main warehouse. Did that until 1992, and then I went back to meter reading again.

Now, I'm the retired bum that I am. Laughing

We can do whatever we want with these threads, so long as we don't aggravate the moniters.

Vivienne and I watched the movie "Road To Perdition" on an ABC-affliated channel last night. It's with Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, and Jude Law. I suppose the acting was good, but the subject matter sure was depressing.

Tom Hanks plays a mobster who is part of a crime ring that's associate with Al Capone. His wife and younger son are killed by another mobster and the revenge spree begins.

In all honesty, I really didn't enjoy it, although I like Hanks a lot. I didn't think that he was properly cast to play such a role.

Has anybody else seen it and thought the same thing.

This afternoon, we're going out to the movie theatre and seeing "Syriana" with Tom Clooney. I've seen a trailer and it looks promising.

I enjoyed Road to Perdition. Normally, I don't like movies that glorify gangsters. Didn't care for the Godfather series at all. This one somehow struck me just the right way. The plot was predictable, even when he died at the end, still it kept me watching.

Yeah, I certainly agree with what you say about The Godfather. Hated them.

The acting in Perdition was good. Especially the boy who played Hank's older son. Thought he did an excellent job. I guess I just didn't really enjoy the subject matter, even though the movie was produced well. I also agree that it was predictable, although I was hoping that it was going to have a less gloomy ending.

I suppose it was a natural conclusion to the show.

Did you figure that the son was going to go back to that old couple?
