eastern lake ontario : still some fine fall weather. it rained quite nicely, but an hour ago the sun came out and we went for a brisk walk. it's about 15 C at 7 pm; not bad at all. waiting for 'indian summer' after the first frost, perhaps in another week ? can't wait for the frost to kill the ragweed and give me some relief from allergy. hbg
hamburger, I have been sniffling, too, and there are those who attribute it to pine pollen. Been a while since I have seen "....the frost on the punkin..."
letty : some 25 years ago the company sent me to austin/texas in february. of course i and mrs h( who came along for the month-long break from canadian winter) were quite happy and excited about the 'break". well, within two days i had the most terrific allergy attack - from pine pollen, as the pharmacist explained to me. still, we sure did enjoy the stay, and we managed to travel around a bit. staying in 'big bend' national park sure was a beautiful experience. hbg
<smile> Big Bend National Park. There is a Big Bend Tunnel in West Virginia, hamburger, where the legend of John Henry first surfaced....a steel drivin' man.
I never think of autumn without remembering Bliss Carmen's "Vagabond Song".................................................................................later, my friends.
Very hot today, 90's, sunny and humid. But hey, at least we don't have a hurricane to worry about this weekend, unlike the last 4 weekends.
The evenings are getting shorter and darkness falls much too soon. I enjoy the long, bright evenings listening to the sounds of nature and going for a dip sometimes.
Cooler here in North Texas and I'm hoping the rain has stopped so we can enjoy the TexasState Fair tomorrow.
Vienna right now: 45F or 7 C and rainy.
During the day we had rain and around 50F.
Dreaming already of summer.

Well, here not. In which district do you live?
Cold and rainy in Balingen...
And we just got back from Denver - sunny, blue skies, warm! Not fair!!!!
Sunny since a couple of days, a bit cold due to easterly winds, blue sky - nicest autumn days since years.
Welcome back, urs .... and: wer's nicht besser verdient hat ....

Sorry, Walter, I seem to have lost all of my German while in Colorado... ;-)
Better loosing your German in Denver than your heart in San Francisco!
However, have a look
HERE
eatsren lake ontario : canadian thanksgiving weekend = cloudy, damp and cool, about 8-10 C. we were promised sunshine - not fair ! still took bailey and cleo out for a nice run along the lake; they sure enjoyed it, sniffing for raccoon p..p and rolling in dead fish - HEAVEN ON EARTH ! hbg
We've been having picture-perfect Fall weather the last few days. Highs in the upper 60s F. The leaves are cooperating with a spectacular show of color. Yesterday we drove up the Great River Road along the Mississippi and across the river to Wisconsin. From there we went to the apple country around Gays Mills and followed the Wisconsin River east. What a wonderful trip!
That sounds great! I used to go to the apple country right around there every year. Get cheese and apples and apple pie...
Absolutely amazing weather here too. There are few things so refreshing as seeing fall leaves against a deep blue sky... I had somehow worried that the fall color would be blah here (L.A. was always so disappointing, and I still think of this as "South" of where I'm used to), but we have lots of maples doing their thing.
Gorgeous here in North Texas- sunny, breezy, and mild with a crystal clear blue sky. The kind of day where you need a jacket in the morning and leave at work when you leave for the day because you no longer need it ;^}
same here on eastern lake ontario. just came back from the lake, took the dogs for a nice walk in one of the many parks along the lake. ducks are beginning to assemble for their flight to the south. water absolutely blue and crystal clear. hbg
Here are the conditions around 46°F/ 8 °C with fresh wind.
Another gorgeous postcard-autumn morning. (Incredible, would be the 7th in row of these beautifully sunny days!)
