Bandylu: An even more awesome sight is seeing the shuttle coming in piggy back on top of a 747 jetliner! Now, that's a sight for sore eyes!

You and yours are welcome anytime, bandylu. (Don't forget, I work in the hotel business!)

Thanks, Rae -- I'll keep that in mind! I believe you may be the only person I know who works in the hotel business. What a sheltered life I lead.

Weather patterns in my area of the world are getting interesting. Another typhoon barreling down on us, the weather people say it will pass to the south of Guam on Saturday. I think that it's going to make a direct hit. Fun, fun, fun for the holiday season. All the people who have put up outdoor Christmas decorations are now having to take it all down. Got to stock up on those emergency supplies.

Stay well, Pueo. There is an ice storm heading for the mid-Atlantic states, too. Supposed to be the worst in decades. Terrible weather for them, one million expected to be without power, I heard.

We have a bit of rain, but it's light and 45F. Expecting sun again tomorrow. This is incredibly mild for us in the Pacific NW.

Thanks Piffka, after our power goes out I begin cooking whatever is in the freezer. I wonder if those in a winter storm need to worry about food spoilage. Guam is hot and humid so after typhoons you have people roaming like nomads searching for ice bags to save or keep whatever food they have.

I still have a frozen turkey so I guess it's going to be barbequed.

I jumped the gun, it's not officially a typhoon yet. Probably by tonight it should be.

Aloha Rae,

Not looking too good right now. Had Super Typhoon Paka run through here in December 14, 1997. Devastated the island, and ruined my oldest daughters first Christmas as well. She was only 6 months old and being without power in this sweltering heat was no fun.

Is it always hot there???? I can't take the heat. I melt.

Good idea about ccoking all the food.

When I know there is going to be an outage I first turn off the computers and the TV. Then quick take a bath, wash all the dishes and vacuum. Cleanliness is next to happiness!

I have a couple of conch type shells which I use to catch octopus.

Never collected shells except for the 70's when everyone were buying the puka shell necklaces. Made a few bucks back then selling those things.
