The day is so beautiful in Fort Worth today I cannot stay inside any longer. Just love a high sky and being able to see the curvature of the earth. No I am not saying Texas is falt because it is not. Well prettly flat in some areas. But I can see forever from where I am today.
Margo, are we having a mango party? Sounds cool, mango margaritas!!!
There is a local park that was actually renamed 'I Dream of Jeannie Lane' a few years back. (Lori Wilson Park)
Mangoes, Margo!! Wonderful. I remember you describing the mango chutney madness. You'll have to tell more as it happens. We want to be in on it.
Rae - I Dream of Jeannie Lane? Do people have to bob their heads a lot and keep their arms akimbo? Must see for my own self someday.
I will remember this for another year. I am an excellent chopper!
Aha, it was the smell of mangoes that brought me here! Margo's mango madness is contagious. Marvelous mangoes. Sweet, drippy mangoes. Mango juice dripping all over the place. Slurp!
Margo, you've brought sweet sunshine to cold, dreary Connecticut.
Let us go to Oz would'nt that be fun.
Sunny and in the 70s in NE Tejas again today.
I ate so many mango's and papaya's growing up (my mother insisted we eat fruit with breakfast) that I have not touched either for many, many years.
Well, ok, I have eaten green papayas at Thai restaurants.
We're going into the 40's tonight here, it's windy too.
No shuttle launch tonight, the landing site in Spain was socked in with bad weather, so it was a no go!
Misti26- It is really amazing. Although I am across the state, I can see the shuttle launches and landings very clearly.
Hey Phoenix, did you catch that launch tonight? It was nothing short of spectacular, it never ceases to amaze me that it gets off the ground, the thing is humongous!
To me, this is one of our most modern of miracles, and a true testament that if you can dream it, you can achieve it!
Darn- I completely forgot about it. I was away most of the afternoon (Burdines had QUITE a sale), and when I came back, I immediately hit the keyboard.
Ah Phoenix, you missed a great launch! There were cars lined up on 520 Causeway to see it, it's quite a sight over the ocean:)
Every once in a while, we can see the shuttle as it passes over Long Island. Of course, by then it's pretty far up and not really looking like a shuttle, but it's fun nonetheless. I envy you FL folks for this (but not for your weather).
It was windy, windy and chilly today -- very fallish which is okay cause I had to cancel the guy who cleans our gutters last week (the trees were still holding on to their leaves). Now they've all come down and things are quite bare again.
Isn't it handy when that happens?
We've got an oak tree that is particularly difficult about its leaves... I was so thankful a couple of mornings ago when I looked up and there were only six leaves left up there. Hah! I thought. Hah, finally I can rake and won't need to immediately rake again!
The leaves looked so darling when they were sprouting last Spring. They are among the last to come out and looked like tiny, pale green parachutes. In the end they were gigantic and brown. I was ready for them to drop!
The oaks do seem to be the last to give in and admit it's winter. And, of course, we have a huge oak hanging right over our gutters. I won't let hubby clean them any more (last time he did it, he nearly broke his neck) and I don't want to have to pay someone to do it twice so I always wait for the oak. Just got a little carried away this year making the appointment a little too early.
<big smile>
You never know.
Our oak hangs over our gutters too. It is too pretty to lose, but I'd like to shift it about 25 feet!
