We had the wind and rain last night, Thok. Today we have very dark clouds, some wind and rain. And it is cold! This is what I hate around here. The temperature dropped from 30°C yesterday to 17°C today. I am freezing!

But on second thought - a hurricane? Hmmm, maybe I'd rather freeze...

Take good care, Floridians!

I'm in Tampa. It's still calm, although it has begun to rain very lightly.

Checking in here to let you all know we haven't seen much wind or rain yet, just briefly intermittent. We are just east of Orlando, the storm is just west of Orlando, so we are getting the peripherals. Lights went out briefly, then back on again.

It was recommended people in Cocoa Beach and north of CB, should leave ... Rae and I dug our heels in and said, we ain't moving at this stage, because it's safer to be inside.

Will keep you updated as the storm moves ... supposedly the next 45 mins. will be the worst of it.

Hugs, and glad to see you're all safe.

Letty, Rae is calling you now.

I do believe the next 45 minutes will be nothing but rain and high winds. It's the eleven p.m. until two a.m. time slot that is worrying me.

I'm gonna sleep right through it though.

Taking my pillow and my comforter into the hallway to settle in for the night and stay away from any glass.

Anyone who is listening ~ please say a prayer for the Floridians who have no safer place to go than their mobile/manufactured homes.

Thanks!

How are our Floridians?

It was AWFUL the way the Cat 2 went so quickly and unexpectedly to a 4! Andrew was a 4!

The worst should be over for the FL Gulf coast and Orlando.

Can our Floridians check in?

I guess plenty will be without electricity....

Thinking of Rae, Misti, Phoenix, Brandon...everybody else.

Sofia, thank you for your kind words ... we are just southeast of Orlando, so far the storm has only shown us some intermittent winds and rain ... nothing to speak of.

As of now, midnight, it is just north of us and I think we're in the clear ... so thank you for thinking of us, and we will continue to try to reach Pheonix. We have spoken to Letty, she is fine:)

We had light rain almost continuously for a 1.5 days here in Jacksonville, Florida, but no high winds or flooding, unless they got a little on the East, and North side of the city. Charley is North East of Savannah, Georgia, now and giving the South Carolina Coast some trouble. I think it was 1956 the last time Jacksonville got hit hard by a storm, so we are very lucky. Neil

That is really good news, Misti! I'm so glad to hear that. Nevertheless, I will watch the satellite pictures of Florida on the internet...
