Matrix - thanks and yikes!

It still doesn't explain going to the "Mall of America" for your holidays! Can you tell I've missed out on the shopping gene? Confused

I'm with you, Margo, all the way. The concept of planning an entire holiday trip to vivit a bloody mall somehow escapes me. Maybe it's because nobody can think of any other reason for making a trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul. I was there once. I don't remember why, now.

On the other hand, I can see why a mall -- any shopping mall -- might be a good place for taking a brisk walk when the stores are closed. Security's probably pretty good and it's a safe place for a schpatzier.

Taking a vacation in a mall isn't something that I'd be interested in doing, either. There was a program on the Discovery Channel about a year ago all about the super malls. They did a bit on the one in MN and I think they also did something on a super mall in Canada. They showed these groups of people that specifically get together for bus/plane trips to the malls a couple of times a year...you know, instead of going to Reno or something more worthwhile like that. Laughing The show was one of those things that you watch when there's nothing else on TV and you don't have anything else to do...Just watching these people at the malls got boring rather quickly! I like to shop sometimes, but not like that!

Thanks so much Mr. D! (You just made my day!!)

Now, if you would be so kind as to send some of the snow my way, I'd be a very happy girl!

Never cared for the cold. Failed miserably in our cold weather exercises in the Marines, except for skiing. The only reason I did well there is that I did NOT want to fall in the cold damp stuff popularly know as snow. imho, snow is vastly overated. Cold and wet water, yuck!

btw, cold for me is anything under 70 degrees. Cool

But to compensate, there's always a adult beverage to be found Drunk

Still raining here, slowly changing to freezing rain and later this afternoon to snow.
As long it will snow it is nice- the first white Christmas since years.

But I would prefere some sunny, warm islands.

Come to Guam. There's no power in 80% of the island, and water is spotty, but it's sunny and definately warm. Guam is a U.S. Territory so travel from the U.S. is relatively easy.

In fact, please come to Guam, we can use your dollars Very Happy

Aloha ul, I never found out why, but a large segment of the tourists in Hawaii are from Germany. I know Austria and Germany are not the same, but it's interesting.

Hawaii is promoted as a dream. Who doesn't want to be in a dream?
My wallet is kind of a string to fasten me down to reality.
But who knows- there might be a time.
I know a person from Austria now retired in Hawaii. She likes it a lot.

Ul, Pueo -- I don't know why, but I've observed that a large proprtion of tourists, no matter where I go, are German. I've found this to be true in Hawaii, yes, but also in unexpected places such as Cancun, Mexico and Damascus, Syria.
