@EqualityFLSTPete,
Hang in there and stay safe. This could be part of the immediate tornado warning situation. Are you near Palma Sola? That's where a tornado is right now.

Hopefully what you're experiencing are strong straight line winds. This immediate situation should pass in 15 minutes...from what the weather dudes are saying. I know that is little consolation.

This is changing by the minute: another tornado is sited nr Myakka and Northport. south of us. Torando warning in effect til 2:15 pm there.

First tornado alert for s/w Manatee county (Bradenton and Palma Sola area) has expired at 1:45 pm. The other tornado is 8 miles north of Northport 20 minutes south of north Sarasota. Other alert will expire at 2:15 pm pm ...hopefully harmlessly.

Quiter here now. Hope EqualityPete is OK up north.

{Edit: General vicinity tornado'WATCH alert is on til 8pm for western coastal area of FL}

It did get worse! WOW what a mess!! Still windy and raining but has lightened up a bit. Outside is a mess. I took this photo just across the street from me, a real downer. Someone's truck is floating in Booker Creek! Nobody was in the truck thank god! I called Morgan and his and Marco’s cars have been pushed up off the street and into their neighbors yard next door!

@EqualityFLSTPete,
This is the view from behind my house. This was a walkway down the canal, which is now under water.

@ehBeth,
Yes it is, I’ve never seen it this bad. My son and I got in my truck to drive and pick up some dinner. We couldn’t get out of the neighborhood, turned around and headed back home. Not safe, the streets are flooded. The winds died down a bit but every now and then they kick up again.

@ossobuco,
Yes stay safe! Don’t be trying to drive anywhere. We have no means of getting out but we don’t plan on it in this weather.

Those tortoises are back in the house in their indoor tortoise pen. The outside pen flooded!

Morgan has some damage on the side of his car, it hit one of the columns in front of the house before floating onto Gilberts front lawn.

@Ragman,
Oh we are. The truck is parked in a lake and of course the cars are next door. Sometimes you can’t judge how deep that water is. This photo is from Bay News 9.

Parts of our neighborhood was the same way, the water is starting to subside for now.

Damn...........Just got back from Carrollwood. It was white rain all the way there. At one point I wanted Mr. P. to turn back, but it was someplace that he really wanted to go, so I shut my mouth, closed my eyes, and held onto the handle over the window for dear life. Saw numerous, nasty accidents along 75.

Coming home now, in my area, you would never think that there was anything but a heavyish shower!

@Rockhead,
Those damn turtles are back in the house.

This is what our neighborhood looks like now. The wind and rain started up again, there is no getting out.

And these two turtles have doubled in size in just one month.
