It's been in the freezing range in Boston last couple of days, extremely cold nights. But the forecast for Friday is temps. in the 50s. If this is global warming, I'm for it.

The people living in the southern US better not get too comfortable. The weather forecasters are saying that El Nino is on its way to pour rain, snow, and ice. c.i.

Somewhere around $1.37 in Boston. But Hawaii prices are the same as Guam.

Well, Misti, her on Amelia Island it is $1.38
- BUT we usually drive a half hour, buy our
gas in S. Georgia for $1.18 or so. Cocoa must
be WAY south of Amelia Island. It has been
getting very nippy (for me) I have grown
accustomed to constant AC, but you never
quite know what our little winters may bring.
One or two year out of the past 8 or so ....it
actually snowed, and ice froze solid on the
island. Since there ARE no salt trucks or any
thing like it - the bridge to the island was total
ice, people couldn't get off or on the island. And
you should see these southerners trying to drive
in ice and snow. It was a hoot. Wrecking into
each other right and left. They honestly believed
that when they hit the brakes at a red light, the
car was just going to stop. Laughing Instead they
flew all over the road - banged into each
other. It was driveable, but I did not dare
go out among other Floridian drivers - they
used to be good at driving in the sand, when
beach driving was legal ( not anymore ).
I would never have CHOSEN to expose my
vehicle to the salt, sand corrosiveness.
Folks who live AT the beach, their doorknobs,
refrigerators, stoves, everything metal gets
eaten up on a regular basis. I live a mile off
the beach, which is PLENTY close for me.

Babs, I hear yah! I find even in heavy rain here drivers don't even slow down, I can't imagine it if it snowed!

Not a bad drive for $1.18, that's a good deal if you ask me.

Cocoa Beach is about 1-1/2 hour drive south of Amelia Island, not far at all, and a real nice drive.

It's very nippy here too lately, more nippy days than A/C days. Already I'm tired of bundling up going to work, being gifted with a low tolerance for cold and all that:)

I'm only 2 blocks away from the beach, live in a condo., which is great. I love to look out and see maintenance people do the lawn, painters just finished painting the outside of the buildings, erected a new fence around the pool, so I don't worry about anything rusting out. It's a never ending task if you have to do it yourself.

I'm quite happy they don't allow driving on the beach anymore, that's way too dangerous and one could easily run over a sun worshipper with no problem.

I'm hoping it won't snow Babs, it's lovely to look at it in a painting, but not to live in it:)

As I understand it, we get our gasoline from Singapore or someplace in that region. There are three different gas companies here, Mobil, 76, and Shell.

Some good news. The power restoration is coming along very well three percent (3%) restoration already. Hawaii, Japan, Korea and of course the good ole' USA have poured money and other resources into Guam's recovery. It probably has something to so with Guam's strategic location for the military. The USS San Francisco an attack submarine just arrived today to join another sub here as a home port a third is supposed to arrive in 2003.

Well there's some bad news too, the phone system will fail shortly (generator failing) and 28 sewage pumps are failing, so there will be raw sewage flowing in the streets. wheew

That's not good. If the phones go down, will you still be able to A2K?

Weather here is 41F -- That's both the high and low so far today!
Supposed to get to 48 sometime during the day. Clear last night and this morning for the 99% full moon. Hope you can enjoy it wherever you are!

pueo...

The phones going down would be bad enough, but if the sewage pumps fail...that will be awful! I'm so sorry that the conditions on Guam are so bad. What a mess! Sad

Today, just north of Piffka, it's been very, very windy. We've had some rain, but mostly a lot of wind. Some of the gusts have been quite strong...not fun when you have a yard full of big trees. It hasn't been as cold as it was yesterday, though, which is kind of surprising. We have a lot more rain in the forecast, but then we like that here, right, Piffka? Rolling Eyes

We love the rain!

The strong winds close to Christmas are good too, because the best evergreen branches for decorating come from the tops of the trees!
