That was wild! 92 down to 72 in about 15 minutes. The plants I spent all weekend planting got a nice drink, the cottonwood fluff no longer fills the air, and I might actually get some sleep tonight.

Florida suffers from such blasts of excessive heat nearly every single day from May through October - I must get away to the mountains soon.

Nice, hot day here, only 94F! There were some promising dark clouds earlier in the day, but that's all they were, promises.

The 18th annual Beach Fest, held every Memorial Day Weekend, attracted thousands of people to Cocoa Beach. Many corporate partners annually sponsor this family event which includes a wide variety of family activities including sand sculpture demonstrations, military exhibits and the Military Beach Sports Championships! The festival also premiers the best in local and national bands, and the ever popular "Miss Beach Fest" Bikini Contest.

Annual event centering around Harley Davidson Motorcycles includes best painted bike, tattoo contest, music, vendors, prizes and an opportunity to win a new Harley-Davidson.

All this in one little city in Florida!

Heat in Canada!! Could this global warming theory actually be truthful? I ADORE Canada & I SO want to become a Canadian citizen. How cold does it get in the winters & how long in SW Ontario? How many of these months is it really HARD COLD? Is it at all bearable for persons
who don't take the cold well. I have what's called Raynaud's, a medical
condition where blood vessels spasm, and nearlly cut off the blood supply
totally to that area. These are triggered by cold in the extremeties, my hands, feet & edges of the ears. It causes my hands, feet etc to hurt, get numb, hurt & hurt & hurt. And out in the cold can cause every single muscle in my body to tense up as if I'm being attacked when the severe cold hits me. BUT, as long as I can stay indoors except for the milder winter days and keep myself very warm, I don't see how it could be much different from life here. Here I'm essentially in prison at home in the air conditioning for 7 months, hiding out from intense heat. Oh it's SO GRAND at the beach. Only a mile away and with a good wind blowing easterly or NE, you don't even feel the heat, nor do you feel the intense skin damage
caused from the sun if you're out in the sun here anytime between 11AM to 4PM. Sunscreens don't protect you from skin cancer, only keep you from burning, then you stay out even longer in the intense sun-cancer causing rays thinking you are safe because you didn't burn. ONLY a total sunblock can protect you if you are spending a day at the beach. Sure I love things about this climate, my yard is a most divine pleasure source for me; my beautiful plants, roses, impatience that grow all year getting huge & reseeding constantly. The bottle brush, hibiscus, huge palms, bouganvilla, jasmine & other climbers covering the trees & trellises, such multitudes of different shades of green grasses, varied green decorative grasses & hedges, an ability to transform my yard so maintenance will be cut down to the slightest. No weekly cutting a big lawn, nor pay anyone else to do it either.

Poor Misti!

We have a long weekend - Monday is a holiday. And it is still rainy. At least the temperature seems to go up a bit - it is no 13 °C. I was wearing boots when I went out last night.

I will take a nice long bath now and hope for better weather tomorrow. And it will come!!!

Ah, a nice story about weather. My yoga teacher married a man from Sri Lanka and he is visiting Germany for the first time - got here yesterday. Before he came, he asked about the weather. Since he has never been in cool or cold weather, she explained to him it's like opening the door of your refrigerator, stepping in and not having a door to go back out... Laughing

eastern lake ontario :
beautiful weather , sunny, high of about 25 C .
the garden is a riot of colours .
as we were having our first cup of coffee on the porch at 7 a.m. , three bunny rabbits come to pay a visit - they looked as surprised as we did !
when we were having tea and cake (just a tiny slice of grand-marmier chocolate cake and some homemade cheesecake) , one of the bunnies appeared again . the bunnies must have stayed under the spruce trees during the winter , because we can follow their distinct 'trail' that leads under the trees . they seem to feel at home .
