Take atheist away, and what do you have? This is a "game?"

Mr. Cicerone Imposter,

It's not a game to me. My faith is no game. But admit it, you find it great sport, don't you? How many times has Mr. Setanta said how hilariously entertaining us Christians are? How many times have you jumped in there to pay homage to your hero?

So don't take away atheist. Those that I made that reference to have themselves admitted to such.

I'm not playing an atheist game--i'm holding your feet to the fire. You have failed to distinguish between superstition and faith. You attempted to play a theist game by carefully selecting a portion of a definition of superstition, but when you gave the entire definition, you torpedoed your own effort.

Hoist on your own petard.

Precisely the point; you merely offer assertions and present propositions, then, when challenged to validate same, fail to do so - seemingly in angry fashion. Anger in argument is tacit admission of failure; if you can't meet the challenge, get angry at it or its presenter - hardly positions of strength, and implicitly intellectually dishonest.

MommaA, continuing to evade the challenge, wrote:
If you or anyone else demands proof to your satisfaction, you aren't going to get it. I don't believe even God Himself telling you that He exists woud be enough proof for you.

There ya go again with that "Believe" stuff ... quit rehashing that and/or why YOU the individual believes or disbelieves anything and logically demonstrate that anyone else should believe as do you. Quit avoiding the challenge, or admit that meeting the challenge is beyond your capabilities. Validly differentiate between "Faith" and "Superstition", and logically demonstrate that one be superior to the other by any parameter apart from the emotional.

And other than pixels on a screen, representing your online personna, I have neither knowledge of or care for how you look, MommaA - that's purely between you and you, and enters not at all into my scheme of things. I will say I have formed an opinion of how your forensic skills look. Particularly amusing is your declaration of abjurance from what you term a game and your persistant pursuit of same.

Momma- IMO, you are painting with too broad a brush. You are pointing out what you consider a "game" by a few people who have characterized themselves as atheists. Therefore, you are saying that what they are playing is an "atheist game". You are taking what a few particular people do, and ascribing that behavior to all atheists.

Let us put the shoe on the other foot, using the exact same logic that you have used. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are playing a "Christian game". How does THAT sound to you?

Specifically, MOAN was referring to me with that crap about an "atheist" game. In fact, i am always careful to point out that i am described as an atheist by others, and that i don't label myself that way--that i simply recognize that others describe me that way. The term is meaningless to me--i know of no good reason to assume that there are any deities, therefore, for as much as i can discern, everyone is without god, everyone is atheist.

Granted Phoenix.

Setanta, I am not playing your atheist game. You have said you were an atheist yourself.

Timber, not sure if you say you are an atheist or not. So, I'm just not playing this game.

Anyone else that may have been lumped into that atheist category incorrectly, I do apologize.

Setanta- To whom Momma was referring is besides the point. I had no desire to get into personalities. I was attempting to explain to her the concept of taking the behavior of a few, and ascribing it to an entire group. For good or for ill, there is a word for this type of thinking...................it is called prejudice.

Our respective stances on theism are immaterial to the challenge; differentiate between "Faith" and "Superstion", and logically demonstrate that one be superior to the other by any parameter apart from the emotional.

I observe you have not done so; absent your provision of any such such differentiation, I must infer you cannot do so, therefore, I logically may conclude only that you concede the argument. In otherwords, you lose.

Phoenix,

Agreed. I do apologize for categorizing anyone. I will try to watch that.

Timber,

Fine. What prize did you win?

Momma-

The God of whom you speak so reverentially is hardly going to be anything else but exceedingly filled with divine fury at anyone who uses vile words and obnoxious phrases to attack your brave defence of His Divinity now is he?He could hardly be the epitome of divine justice were he allow those into the same fold you will obviously be in.

Perhaps if you were to read My Joyce's description of Hell, which is in Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man,you will see what a great writer thought it looks like and the sort of things that pass for eternal fare in that place and you will no doubt,as a caring person,be fired with a burning desire to convert your detractors in order to save them from such a fate.

After all-they can't be garuanteed to have the time Voltaire had to come to a conclusion on the matter when the foot is in the door.

I'm not looking for any prize, nor claiming any "win" - just pointing out a failure to meet a challenge. Your postings present an argument without supporting it. All I'd like to see is support, not circular argument. Either you can support your argument, or you cannot or, perhaps, to the same effect none the less, choose not to. In any event, your argument, in that it be not supported in the face of challenge, stands refuted.

I don't win a damned thing, nor in this instance do I care to or expect to, but your argument as so far presented loses conclusively.

Fine. So what? It's rigged and you know it is. It's rigged because I believe on faith and you don't. So, nothing I give you is going to satisfy you.

That is itself an evasion, an intellectually bankrupt response. You do your argument no service whatsoever while validating assorted of the counter arguments presented.

What is with you? Ok timber, how is this:

I concede. I cannot meet your challenge. You win! What's your address? I will send you a cigar.

Are we finished now?
