So - the flood was like a big booboo?

My ilks don't have secret handshakes and stuff - I think Setanta is mistaking the Freemasons for all ilks.

I mean - they DO form an ilk - but they are not the template for ilks.

Do the Buffaloes have secret handshakes?

My dog and his ilk are promenading through the graveyard next door, boastful swaggering pee-ers.

Whats a freakin' buffaloe? Did you mean bison? This is a crhistian nation Mz Deb, we outlawed any and all "bi" anything around these parts years ago, even before we flouridated the water. The rule of law is that if you have a "bi"son you must turn him over to the authorites and have him stoned at the village well.

Benevolent Protective Order of Elks . . . one of a host of "secret societies" in the New Nited States . . . click on the link (that's what it is). Kinda silly, though, a "secret society" havin' a website.

It is interesting, no, how folk still kinda seek totems?

You know - Lions, Elks, Buffalo. I had a fella once what belonged to the Phoenix motor cycle club. Cubs have Akelas and Brownies Brown Owls.

We just crave animism and such, methinks.

I think we need properly to visualise our Ilk totems, ands wear them proudly......

Hmmmmmm......

Nobody appears to want fleas or tapeworms or mosquitoes or blowflies, do they?

Artistic totems:

Sculptures and such

Tattoo totems - for ehBeth - and the mins:

Fleshly totems

All kindsa animal totems, and their qualities - including Ozzian ones - which the Aboriginal folk have had for millenia, of course: (There;s even some meek ones!)

I was just watching a special today that used the terminology "tokes", which I rarely heard used, to refer to humans needing animal relations.

However, it was a bit more extreme, talking about

(Bush with Gambian Pouched Rat)

Rat animal totem

The rat has been living under a stigma since its connection with the
bubonic plague was established. In the fourteenth century, nearly a
quarter of Europe's population was taken by the Black Death, and the
rat has been a symbol of Death for at least four centuries.

And then, of course, there's the old sailor's adage about rats leaving a
sinking ship before disaster strikes, which has made the rat synonymous
with a traitor or a deserter. While the rat's cousin, the mouse, has conquered
the world as a symbol of fun, fantasy, and frivolity, there is no Ricky Rat to
compete with Mickey Mouse.

Those individuals born in the Year of the Rat in the Chinese zodiac are
counted as people who are ambitious, yet honest, who are prone to spend
their money too freely.

If you can move beyond the stigma associated with this large rodent, you
will gain a totem animal that will aid you in establishing a comfortable and
efficient home and help you courageously defend it against all external
negativity. There is also a great deal of magical energy vibrating around this
spirit helper, and you may be led into a more serious study of the ancient
mysteries through its encouragement Rat will also lend you the necessary
energy to become a respected worker in the business environment. You
will never be tempted to gamble or fritter away your salary, however, Rat will
see to it that you make only wise investments that will benefit your home
and family.

Personally, I like rats very much.

I am worried about the stoned one, though. It looks as though it is suffering the dreaded paranoia.

Edit: You know, it is an ill wind that blows no good. I was looking for rat images for Roger, and a rat puppet came up - when I looked more closely, it was part of a huge puppet range.

Now - I am ALWAYS looking for therapeutic puppets - and they have 'em.

Unfortunately, not being a Rat, I am broke - and cannot buy any. Still....one day. There be DRAGONS and such!

It is hard finding puppets awful enough to represent the feelings the kids I work with have...

I'm always looking for puppets and dolls and critters and things for my friend <the paediatric neuropsychologist>. One of my best finds was a lil rag doll wearing an apron with a dolly in one pocket and a kitten in the other pocket. Apparently it's been great for getting stories started.

I've found some interesting animals at the Goodwill for her - I run the fabric ones through the washing machine and the others through the dishwasher.

Don't be so quick to throw daggers, relax.

And I will continue to have a very nice day, thank you.

I had come up with a long answer, and then promptly lost it. It's not worth it to do it all again.
