Osso, That's great. I'll look for them. Politics was probably the wrong topic to start out in. I had no idea how polarized it was here. I'm learning fast though.

Fantastic, a voice reaches out of the madness. I'd be interested in hearing about this party. Have you done a topic on it yet?

No - we're keeping it under wraps until we have everything legalized and copyrighted (as far as part name and seal goes). I would be more than happy to e-mail you information in private though (see my profile for e-mail as I can't Private Message). I will begin building the party website in a year or so, once again depending on legal matters.

I appreciate this thread being started though, it caught my eye right away.

Yeah, I'm just kind of floating around and thinking for myself. I don't let people influence the way I feel or think. As Lash mentioned in another thread, "I lead with my heart", and in turn I go with my gut feelings and facts that I learn along the way.
I speak my mind and I don't follow what others are doing simply because we may share most of the same views as I do.

I think what bugs me the most about being labeled a liberal is that every time I speak my mind about something that some conservatives may not agree with, they pull out the "you liberals" card and that just burns my ass. I don't do that to them and I don't appreciate being treated like my own personal thoughts and feelings are not my own.

Did any of that make sense?

And I have all the love that both Montana and Lash provide. I shall resist easily the temptation to dwell in the house of banality.

Oh Montana, don't you cry for me. I've... gone to...er..A2K(aay-aay-ayy), with a keyboard on my kneee...

Yes.

Montana, I know how you feel. That is exactly what I was explaining with peers at my school and my family. These are the situations:

ME: "Bush is mixing religion and politics, we need someone who can be religious in their life, yet knows how to seperate that from his job. John Kerry!"

Family: "When you're older and have more of an idea of what reality is, you'll be smarter and you'll grow out of being liberal."

Friends: "Damn straight - f-cking right-wing conservatives!"

ME: "I think each citizen should be able to wear a seat belt only if they want to, and should absolutely be allowed to own firearms to protect themselves."

Family: "Oh, Crystal, you're maturing. I knew you'd grow out of that liberal phase.

Friends: "Bush-lover."

Don't worry, you're not alone. If people can't put some sort of label or blame on you when they feel threatoned, then they start to shake and their heads explode. It's not pretty.

This is exactly why we need a balanced, moderate president. Just someone who's able to see the other side without becomming judgmental or bias.

I never said I was neutral, I said I was a moderate. There's a difference.

I keep reading the topic title as Good Grief, Aren't there any Moderators here?

So, um, yeah, we're here. We're in the back, eating the last of the Chinese takeout, but we're here.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic, already in progress.

I wondered where that soy chicken went. I KNEW I'd brought it back from Kim Hoa.

I didn't realize the moderately modulated moderators had the key to the refrigerator again.

LastModerate, welcome to A2K; glad to have you here among the inmates.

I don't think we've ever had a left wing president. Plenty of right wing and a few moderates.

The problem is that most right wingers wrongly label moderates as liberals. And they label liberals socialists or communists devils.

They don't seem to even understand those who are fiscal conservatives and socially liberal. This groups may include many libertarians.

There is only one legitimate belief, that of right wing conservative, social and economic. They tend to be chauvinists of the Bush administration and attack anyone who does not adore Bush and the Republican Party. You can count on their attacks being in defense of Republicans and hatred for Democrats, especially Bill Clinton, whom they view as the devil incarnate. I never voted for Clinton, but if given a choice between Clinton and Bush, I wouldn't hesitate to vote for Clinton.

The only time I voted Democrat was against Bush and reluctantly for Kerry because I believed that Bush was a disaster for America. Turns out I was right.

Other than all of this, the inmates manage a degree of civility on these threads. If they don't, the moderators will zap them. I've been zapped a couple of times, but I'm still unrepentant as a 76 year old who has mellowed a little with old age.
