For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. -- Hosea 8:7.
It's always good to indulge a bit of that old time religion, eh? In fact, rather than just occasionally indulging it, why don't we enshrine and institutionalize it ? ! ? ! ?
Leaving aside the issue of whether or not there is a right-wing religious movement bent on capturing and exercising governance in the United States, i would like people to consider the implications of a theocracy in the contemporary world. What do you think would be the result were the United States to be governed by fundamentalist Protestant principles.
God will destroy those who destroy the earth. -- Can't remember.
I think that should we be governed by fundamentalist principles we will hasten our descent from the number 1 spot. Just a hunch though.

civil war.
In your scenario, are the people going along with it, or not?
Yes Set, the people want to know, Would this be a mob decision?
I'm not offering a scenario, i'm asking for the response of others. I can understand if someone has no taste for the subject, but when i've asked a question, i consider it would be inappropriate for me to provide the answer.
I didn't know "you had the answer". I was trying to figure out the premise before answering.
...if you wanted to know the track of a monolithic, fundy moral society---or our current society with fundymoral leaders.
We've alread got a fundy "moral" leader. No, i don't have the answer, which is what i was pointing out.
I think this sentence was clear enough: ". . . i would like people to consider the implications of a theocracy in the contemporary world." A theocracy is an entity ruled by theology and theologians.
According to Answes-dot-com:
A nation or state in which the clergy exercise political power and in which religious law is dominant over civil law.
Well, ****. This society wouldn't stand for it. There's no way. I wouldn't stand for it.
Revolution.
I guess I'll listen and see what others make of it.
Civil law is for civilians, we are an army of god (on a mission) You're either with us or against us. Franchise fees=$250,000 buy-in plus 7% of gross paid quaterly to the RNC. For an additional $50,000 on the buy-in you are forgiven the obligation to wear dockers.

When you put it that way dys - Praise the Lawd and Pass the ammo...
in some ways the civil war has already begun.
reminds me of a great steve earle song, "the revolution starts now".
You're fighting the wrong people.
Because we are supposed to be on the same side.
(See Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, US History, common sense....houses divided don't tend to do well...)
I'm not fighting anybody.
I can show you several posts where your ilk (been long overdue to use ilk) talk like they are fighting the rest of the country.
Ask DTOM what he meant by his post a few up.
