SHOULD WE HANDLE VICTORY THE WAY THE CHRISTIAN GOD DECREES? Actually it should read

'Should we go to war the way the Christian God did"?

There will be no victory in Iraq. Just as there was no victory in Vietnam.

Some people here, and they know who they are, refuse to answer this question, preferring to throw in red herrings to divert attention to the question. Or maybe 'they' cannot fathom the question?

The NEW TESTAMENT does NOT advocate killing people for any reason. It says 'turn the other cheek'. Is Bush displaying 'love one another' as thousands of children, women and men are killed in Iraq FOR NOTHING BUT OIL? Get a friggin clue, lady.

So, again, I will ask: how do people who call themselves Christians rationalize the killing in Iraq?

If on the other hand you follow the Old Testament (Jewish?) then of course you would find that was how God achieved victory: kill everyone. But if you are Christian then you would know that the old testament was nailed to the cross when Jesus died. Jesus' teachings were adhered to from then on. You cannot use both old and new testaments. They conflict. The old testament has many rules to follow, as well, and I doubt you follow them, Ma. You cannot pick and choose if you are Christian. Either you believe in killing as a means to victory (in which case you are not Christian in the strict sense of the word) or you don't. Yeah, I know, you can't get into the politics. You ARE into the politics. Your problem is that you have no legit argument, and you know it. Read some of Gore Vidal's books, or Noam Chomsky's. Heard of them? Open your eyes. I doubt the article that I posted above regarding Bush's supporters deserting him penetrated your brain, poor dear.

Why are you being so rude? Just because I have differing viewpoints than you? What is your problem with me? You don't even know me.

And who are you to tell anyone what being a Christian is or is not? Last time I checked, you were not God.

If you want an answer to that question, then I suggest you ask Mr. Bush.

I have my reasons for not delving into politics. And, frankly, they are none of your business.

englishmajor,
Why don't you start your own war in Iraq thread or jump in on one of the several already in existence.

Your rantings are way off topic here. Just what Canada needs. Are you hiding out here or something?

Well, she's up there where you are in Canada somwhere.

Help me out Intrepid. She said that others knew where she was from because of her avatar. I, however, had no clue. What did I miss?

The other end of the country. British Columbia. It is above Washington state.

I missed whatever you missed. I do not have the faintest idea how that avatar represents anything about Canada. Maybe it is supposed to be Pamela Anderson or something. Laughing

Can't any of you answer the question that was created by Frank who began this forum:

Should we handle victory the way the Christian god decrees?

Is it too confusing for you? You are all off of the topic, I'm assuming because you are unable to answer it in an intelligent fashion.

Also, if you can read? my quote is quite plain about where I live. It is not a secret at all. I just assumed Ma wouldn't have a clue about where BC is on the map. She probably thinks Manitoba is a city in BC.

If no one will engage the topic then have fun pretending to be Christians. That is, after all, what Bush does.

Why don't you go back and read the last 135 pages before you make judgement on who has answered and who has not.

Why do you find it necessary to ridicule people because they do not agree with you? Why do you bring Bush into everything?

Frank's original question is a straw man. That is why I keep email updates turned off for this thread.

Englishmajor,

You said your avatar should tell me where you were from. You did not say the words would tell me. Well, I have never heard BC referred to as the last frontier.

Also, IF you can read, you can go back through these posts in the thread and find out our answers to the question, as we have been discussing this topic for quite awhile now.

Pretend to be a Christian? Oh please.

Quite a boring thread. Neologist is right. No updates for me, either.

Enjoy your ride on the soultrain, born agains. Hope the tickets aren't all sold out.

Englishmajor,

Gee, so sorry we are so boring to you. But, then most of us aren't given quite the gift for words that you are. THANK GOD!

The problem with englishmajor (well, one of them, anyway) is that she just jumped into the middle of this fracas, guns blazing, without knowing sh*t from shinola. She wasn't even registered at A2K until well over a month after this particular thread was already up and running. Upon arriving here, she focused her laser-like brain and decided on whose jock to jump on (Apisa's), and she's been raising a stink of rabble-rousing nonsense in the less-than-a-month she's been here.
Intrepid, Ma et al - I would say, consider the source of all this hot air. She ain't worth one single ruffled feather.
